Overview:
The Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs will lead legislative and regulatory initiatives impacting Hallador Energy. This role involves advocating for favorable policies, building relationships with key government officials, and evaluating compliance with future state, federal, and agency regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Legislative and Regulatory Monitoring:
· Track legislative and regulatory developments.
· Disseminate information to executives to inform corporate policies.
2. Government and Stakeholder Liaison:
· Serve as the primary liaison with state and federal officials, energy companies, and industry associations.
· Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
3. Impact Assessment and Strategy:
· Assess regulatory changes' impact on business activities.
· Advise business units on compliance adjustments.
4. Political Action and Policy Coalition:
· Consult on political action committee activities.
· Develop and manage budget for political contributions.
· Participate in policy coalitions to promote organizational priorities.
5. Regulatory Expertise and Testimony:
· Provide strategic advice on regulatory issues.
· Present testimony on behalf of the organization.
6. Coalition Building:
· Build coalitions with industry counterparts and professional associations.
7. Strategic Planning:
· Develop and implement comprehensive plans to enhance regulatory capabilities, ensuring they align with and support the company’s overall goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Governmental Policy, Business, or related field; postgraduate degree in Economics, Law, Business, or related field preferred.
· 7 years of related work experience in the energy industry and regulatory affairs preferred.
· Experience at state and federal levels, with preference for multi-state experience.
· 5 years of leadership experience in government and regulatory affairs preferred
· Strong understanding of political landscapes and regulatory processes in the U.S.
· Advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
· Excellent leadership and strategic thinking abilities.
· Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships.
Compensation & Benefits:
Hiring salary range: [to be determined] per year, based on experience.
