The Role:

Our client's Musculoskeletal Therapeutic Area is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I or II to join the team. We are professional scientists with a passion for making therapeutics that have a big impact on lives and are devoted to sharing scientific findings with the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for the intellectual and hands on evaluation of therapeutic strategies in support of the research pipeline. In the act of doing so, they will have multidisciplinary interactions with dozens of colleagues throughout Research and across the business. This is primarily a laboratory-based role where in vitro molecular, cellular, genetic and biochemical methods will be applied.

The successful candidate has:

A strong foundation in molecular, cellular, genetic, and biochemical concepts and methodology as demonstrated through publications and presentations.

Requirements

Required Skills: An expert level ability to develop & conduct the following methods, and to analyze, present, and quickly iterate upon the data generated:

Protein quantification: ELISA, Western/WES or other, and a conceptual understanding of LCMS.

mRNA/DNA quantification: qPCR, ddPCR, knowledgeable of NGS approaches, prep and analysis.

Microscopy: Confocal or other with a breadth of knowledge in sample preparation and image analysis to visualize and quantify cellular events.

Deep experience in cell culture approaches: Knowledgeable on cell lines to use for various applications and Flow cytometry or FACS; has applied transfection and transduction approaches, gene editing, and generated edited or transgenic cell lines.

Modern and traditional molecular cloning approaches (Gibson, etc).

Extra consideration will go to candidates with the following skills/experience:

Expertise or knowledge in skeletal or muscle biology and/or disease such as muscular dystrophy and achondroplasia.

Liquid handling automation and application of other HTS instrumentation.

Experience with therapeutic modality evaluation and/or development: oligonucleotides, small molecules, gene therapy, and/or antibodies.

Differentiation of iPSCs into neurons, cardiomyocytes, or myotubes and methods to evaluate the physiology of those cells.

Functional Genomics: pooled CRISPR screens, etc.

Programming (Python, other).
