Overview

Our R&D Global Process Centers are the heart of innovation and development for Global R&D. Our facilities provide small, mid, and full-scale equipment across Core and Breakthrough technologies to enable R&D Engineers and Scientists to deliver against solid growth plans, develop future innovation solutions and unlock capability and productivity for PepsiCo. This role will have a unique opportunity to be part of our global R&D process center team leading our Food Safety agenda for 2 facilities, TPC (Dallas, Texas) and the Process Lab (Plano, Texas). This role will be based in 2 locations; 3 days at the TPC Pilot Plant (Dallas, Texas) and 2 days at the Process Lab (Plano, Texas).

As a Food Safety Manager for our Process Centers, you will be leading our Food Safety programs at both sites to ensure compliance and alignment with PepsiCo’s overall Food Safety agenda. You will build collaborative partnerships across R&D, Supply Chain, and our Global Processing Centers to ensure a robust agenda and alignment of policies and procedure. In addition, this role will have the opportunity to set a vision for digital transformation within our Food Safety programs at the Pilot Plants and lead through to execution.

Responsibilities

Lead PepsiCo food safety programs across R&D Pilot Centers including AIB, GMP FSSC22000 and FDA requirements. This also includes ensuring a documented and executed Food Safety Plan, Pathogen Environmental Program, sanitation, allergen program, physical hazards, water reuse, etc.

Build collaborative partnership across Global Process Centers and Supply Chain to align programs and procedures. Primary point of contact for site food safety and quality working across sites (Plano & TPC) and global teams as necessary to deliver compliance.

Direct manager of 2 Food Safety associates to execute and deliver against short and long-term Food Safety agenda.

Develop vision and align leadership team to digital transformation necessary for Food Safety compliance and efficiency. Set pathway for transition to digital programs and implement.

Lead internal Food Safety audit program and serve as contact for audits from external parties. Must be an expert in subject matter to identify risks, close gaps and serve as primary contact for site when audit by external parties.

Lead identification and closure of regulatory gaps (if any) in a timely fashion to ensure regulatory compliance.

Conduct horizon scan to identify, test and roll out new process technology in support of food safety initiatives.

Apply risk assessment to various scenarios to come up with proper strategy to control the risk.

Collaborate with sector functional teams to drive Winning with Purpose and our Faster, Stronger, Better agendas related to food safety.

Partner with Environmental, Health and Safety team to meet Food Safety requirements and lead periodic site reviews.

Manage and elevate all Food Safety training programs required at site and maintain compliance through tracking process. Strive to create and facilitate engaging training sessions to improve retention of material.

Lead team to create action plans to address any audit findings and keep open communication across site on findings. Drive long-term strategy focused on solutions for systemic issue or trends to prevent future re-occurrence.

Make decisions on appropriate corrective actions for hold incident investigations with R&D management and Global Process Center.

Provide operational support to Project Teams, Engineering, Safety, Operations, and R&D PD Teams on all activities, services, or changes entering the facility.

Support Retail, Trade call, and promotional productions to meet all quality and food safety standards.

Monitor consumer feedback for retail productions and prepare action plan for any concerns.

Lead HACCP program and PCQI requirements for the site.

Work effectively and collaborate with teams to enable a Food Safe production and test facility.

Coach/Mentor site team to ensure complete understanding and execution of Food Safety Programs.

Update policies and procedures to support site Food Safety and Compliance Programs.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected compensation range for this position is between $66,300 - $111,000 based on a full-time schedule.

Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.

Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 5% of annual salary paid out annually.

Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

BS in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, or another related technical field.

3-5 years’ experience if Food or Beverage manufacturing environment.

PCQI trained individual with SME level knowledge of of Food Safety Programs and Preventive Controls and Food Safety Regulatory framework

Working knowledge of key areas of food safety including, Food Microbiology, Toxicological Principles, Allergen Management, Pest Management, Sanitation, Hygienic design, zoning, and cGMPs highly desired.

Good understanding of basic food processing or manufacturing and the related food safety and quality programs.

Strong organizational and data management skills.

Achieve quality results consistently despite obstacles. Monitors progress against goals, identifies issues and takes corrective action early.

The candidate must be a team-oriented person with skills that effectively brings solutions and resolutions.

Ability to develop positive working relationships with manufacturing personnel and gain commitment from others to accomplish work.

Proven ability to audit against process and product specifications – Qualified Internal Auditor, Qualified Lead Auditor.

Demonstrated capability to recognize and appropriately address food safety concerns.

Demonstrated experience facilitating root cause analysis, as necessary for Food Safety investigations.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with strong written and verbal communication skills.

This role requires associate to be in office at our TPC facility in Dallas Texas 3 days a week and at our Plano R&D facility 2 days a week based on projects.
