Northeast Operations Manager

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations associated with the contracts United Utility Power Services (UUPS) has with various clients in the Northeast. The OM ensures client satisfaction with UUPS deliverables and overall performance and must continuously work to organically grow opportunities with existing clients while looking for opportunities to expand into serving new clients. The OM works closely with the local UUPS Team in Glastonbury CT and reports to the Northeast Director of UUPS. The OM oversees the daily performance of UU personnel and interfaces with client management. The OM also interfaces with other UUPS business units as necessary to accomplish overall goals. The OM works closely with clients to ensure all UUPS contracts meet performance expectations.
OM Responsibilities include:
Meet regularly with clients in a face-to-face setting to receive feedback and facilitate
communications on Team performance.
Meet with UUPS personnel as needed to ensure concerns are understood and addressed in a
timely manner.
Assist with change management regarding implementation of process refinements driven by
client needs to affected UUPS personnel.
Removal of barriers and implementation of solutions as agreed to with client and UUPS
management.
Assist with planning and executing all-hands meetings.
Perform incident investigations and analyses as needed, across the Northeast.
Provide weekly updates to the respective UUPS senior level manager.
For contracts that involve field work, perform work observations on a regular basis and
document in the UUPS work observation platform.
Interface with client Emergency Preparedness Teams as needed for storm restoration support.
This includes before, during and post-storm.
Assist with implementation of corrective actions based on lessons learned from day-to-day and
storm activities.
Interface with client Contracts and Purchasing Teams to ensure POs are updated as needed.
Work with UUPS Fleet personnel to swap out vehicles as needed.
Assist with interviewing candidates for hire.
Assist with contract development and negotiations as needed.
Perform annual performance appraisals of UUPS personnel.
Collaborate with UUPS senior level manager to administer progressive discipline as needed.
Assist with timesheet and invoice review as needed.
Project costs are monitored and contained such that revenue projections are maintained.
Participate in budget development, performance analysis, and forecasting for these contracts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensures UUPS personnel are compliant with Federal, State, Local and Eversource and UUPS
environmental and safety programs, policies, rules, and regulations.
Ensures UUPS personnel are compliant with client and UUPS standards and procedures.
Ensures client and UUPS management is notified immediately of any deviations in safety compliance or environmental compliance.
Attend, participate in, and/or lead meetings, as necessary.
Focus on delivery of exceptional services to our clients and proactively tweak processes as needed to achieve this.
Always interact with an engaging, energetic, and positive style.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILL:
Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and codes along with construction standards and
regulations.
Working knowledge of construction methods and procedures.
Knowledge of energy delivery power systems.
The ability to learn and utilize available information technologies.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, related degree, or equivalent
experience.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 5 years in Transmission, Distribution, or Substation design and/or construction experience.
Candidates must have supervisory/management experience along with direct client interface
experience.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
• Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
• Must be available to travel around the Northeast region, as necessary.
• Must be able to enter ROW and other job sites that are in remote areas with uneven terrain.

PAY & BENEFITS:
This is an exempt position with salary starting at $140,000 and is negotiable depending on candidate’s
experience and qualifications. Must furnish at least three management references based on
performance in the last five years.
