The anticipated salary range for this role is between $98,000.00 and $130,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Analytics and Governance in the Business Control Office, Americas Division, the Business Reporting and Analytics role will perform detailed work in an independent fashion and support a broad range of tasks related to sourcing, analyzing, and interpreting business processes and data to identify and assess risks, developing and monitoring KRIs and thresholds, writing relevant procedures and documentations, and creating presentations for senior management. This role requires expertise in business analysis, strategy, business management, risk and control frameworks, presentation, documentation and gathering of business requirements and specifications. This person will collaborate with various stakeholders and business groups within the Americas Division to understand business processes and requirements, develop and provide the needed support.

Role Objectives: Delivery

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with various stakeholders to assist in sourcing, analyzing, and interpreting business processes and data to identify, document, and assess risks and controls within the organization.

Assist in developing and monitoring KRIs and thresholds for all SMBC Americas Division business lines according to the relevant procedures and policies.

Assist in analyzing data from various sources against the existing business risks and controls to identify opportunities for developing Key Risk Indicators and Key Control Indicators for effective management reporting and monitoring.

Assist in analyzing and validating existing KRIs inventory.

Assist with coordination, documenting, information gathering, and follow-up tasks.

Support the team with data analysis and management, reporting, presentations, and providing demos as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

CRITICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE AND CORE COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

4+ years of experience in a business analysis, business management, strategy, or risk and control role.

Working knowledge of governance structures and experience interacting with management within a business environment.

Team player with excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

Self-starter with ability to hit the ground running and work independently with limited supervision.

Good skills in Microsoft products including Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, and charts), PowerPoint (senior management-level presentation skills), and Word (business requirements and formal documentation skills).

Problem solving skills, willingness to learn, strong sense of work ownership, strong attention to details, and ability to handle a vast array of information.

Financial Services experience and knowledge of the banking and markets businesses and products is a plus.

Working experience in Database Management systems, and Workflow and Visualization tools is a plus

REQUIREMENTS

5 years of comparable or relevant work experience

Relevant (i.e. Finance, Business, etc.) BA/BS required; MA/MS/MBA preferred

Business fluency in English

Expertise in MS applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required

Skills in Database Management systems, and Workflow and Visualization tools is a plus
