At the Taylor House, our mission is to empower independence in former foster youth and at-risk young women aged 18-24 by teaching essential life skills which are represented by our five key pillars: employment, education, transportation, health & wellness & budgeting & banking.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Seeking an experienced multi-talented full time Executive Director with a strong background leading and growing a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization within the Health & Human services environment to carry on the legacy of our thriving organization created by our Founder Lisa Peat. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on our community by leading the cause to help build bright futures for this highly vulnerable population who have typically endured an extremely traumatic childhood. As we work with each individual, our staffs’ efforts encompass every aspect of starting off adulthood on the right foot with support ranging from assisting in resume writing, obtaining a high school diploma/pursuing secondary education programs, completing driver’s training, receiving crucial physical and mental health services, and setting up checking accounts and personal budgets.

REQUIREMENTS

● 5 years minimum of leadership experience in the non-profit sector, preferably in the field of child welfare or juvenile justice

● Bachelor’s degree preferred

● Proven track record in fundraising, including grant writing and donor cultivation

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders

● Experience handling personal conflict resolution

● Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and empower staff

● Proficiency in financial management and budgeting

● Familiarity with local community resources and partnerships

● Proficiency using Word, Excel, Google Drive and related applications (ex. Docs, Sheets, Slides )

● Experience using DonorPerfect or similar donor platforms, Ready Set Auction, Quickbooks, Guidestar, Wix, Weebly, Constant Contact or similar email marketing program

● Possession of a valid and appropriate driver’s license

● Completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of The Taylor House

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nonprofit leader and face of the organization, the Executive Director is responsible for a host of employment, operational, financial, promotional and board-related duties. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Staff Management and Development

● Act as liaison between Program manager, staff and board of directors

● Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a competent and motivated team

● Foster a positive work environment promoting collaboration, professional growth, and employee well-being

● Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide guidance and support to Program manager and staff

● Manage and direct employee payroll, and ensure payroll is compliant with all tax requirements

● Facilitate employees’ involvement in training programs.

● Provide feedback to employees on decisions and plans made by the board of directors

Organizational Structure

● Provide direction to all employees and volunteers to ensure they understand their roles and interaction structure.

● Maintain accurate records of all employees for four years, particularly tax- and payroll-related items.

● Resolve conflicts among Program manager, board members, volunteers and residents

● Identify opportunities for program expansion and improvement based on needs and emerging trends

Financial And Policy Management

● Maintain the highest ethical standards in management of all funds.

● Implement practices and policies to ensure proper financial controls and transparency.

● Prepare a financial budget no later than Jan. 15 of each year.

● Monitor all aspects of financial activity and reporting to the board of directors

● Ensure employees understand the importance of fiscal responsibility

● Oversee bookkeeping and ensure the treasurer has “reconciled” all books on a quarterly basis

● Provide the board with information on any spending of over $3,000, with the exception of pre-approved bills (i.e. general liability insurance, directors’ and officers’ insurance, Workers’ Compensation)

● Seek appropriate professional direction regarding human resources laws and requirements, and financial management practices.

● Facilitate annual tax-related issues

● Ensure all tax forms are provided to the accountant annually by Feb. 28

● Budget for fundraisers and manage all related funds

● Continuously refine policy and funding opportunities

Board Of Directors

● Develop and implement the organization’s strategic goals and objectives in alignment with the Taylor House Mission and Vision

● Provide visionary leadership and effectively communicate the organization’s direction to the board, employees, volunteers, and stakeholders

● Work with the board of directors to identify and engage new board member candidates

● Meet with prospective board members and provide state of the organization updates to current board members

● Collaborate with the board of directors to develop policies, procedures, and guidelines that ensure efficient and effective operations

● Provide board members with bylaws, annual calendar, annual budget, strategic plan, yearly goals, policies procedures.

● Attend all board meetings

● Work with board president to disseminate board meeting agendas.

● Engage board members in speaking engagements and donor cultivation events

● Represent issues from the staff to the board and vice-versa

● Inform the board of major issues, concerns or breaches in compliance with the program in a timely manner

Fundraising

● Identify and manage fundraising chair; serve as a member of the Fundraising Committee.

● Securing corporate sponsors

● Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, community leaders, women’s groups and service clubs

● Seek out and pursue grant opportunities and oversee the grant application from start to finish. Writing at least five grants each calendar year

Miscellaneous

● Network with the community and participate in regular speaking engagements with service clubs to promote and educate the public on the Taylor House Mission

● Arrange donor tours

● Facilitating news releases and articles.

● Field incoming calls and emails from website, social workers, probation officers and community members

● Oversee and delegate maintenance of Taylor House website and social media accounts

● Manage the maintenance needs list of the facility itself.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000 per year (DOE). Vacation and Paid Holidays
