The Director Operations is responsible for the development, implementation and effective management of production, quality, safety, service and cost objectives. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Performs Aligns SBU expectations (quality/service, costs, responsiveness, asset management) with operations by product lines. Follows through and supports team decisions and initiatives;
Contributes to the strategic direction of the BU and participates in the execution;
Maintains accountability for the safety, quality, cost, throughput and delivery of manufacturing operations.
Provides direction and prioritization to personnel regarding planning, scheduling, manufacturing engineering, quality control, inventory control and distribution/shipping;
Operates production in accordance with EH&S requirements. Cultivates a culture of commitment to safety excellence while ensuring responsible and disciplined operations within the plant. Ensures compliance with legal and environmental safety standards.
Tracks and manages delivery performance. Manages resources for enough capacity to achieve required production volumes. Assures ongoing improvement in product quality as measured by CAR’s, QN’s and audit results through effective leadership of team;
Manages the operations team to key results areas and Plant metrics. Manages actual costs to budget, inventory stocking programs to flex with business levels and meet metrics;
Coaches and mentors’ staff on Lean Sigma tools. Sponsors Lean events. Implements the appropriate measures (metrics/SCOR) to drive continuous improvements and best practices;
Manages and develop high performing operations management team. Hires high performers for job positions. Sets development goals for managers and coaches for achievement. Conducts performance reviews and provides opportunities for training. Provides clear direction and rewards top performers often;
Champions use of CI tools in driving plant improvement to develop and implement strategic initiatives relative to inventory, capacity utilization and growth opportunities;
Collaborates with product manager to align product roadmap to manufacturing. Provides full support to customers on product quality and delivery;
Represents operations group within Entegris to those who impact the manufacturing process (Sales, CS, Product Management, Engineering, etc.);
Acts as senior leader for entire campus; communicates, coordinates and interacts frequently with functional senior leaders on campus;
Creates, shares and executes vision for future factory to align with Global Operations and Division objectives.
Guides and supports new product transition activities from engineering to volume production.
Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Physical Requirements):
B.S. degree in Engineering, or highly related field;
10 years related plant manufacturing management;
Experience managing large, complex plant operations with high and low mix products and multiple shift models, including 7 x 24; multi-plant leadership experience preferred
Experience working globally & cross-culturally;
Lean Manufacturing work experience;
Excellent communication, planning, organization and leadership skills;
Cost effectiveness and plant budgeting work experience;
Flexibility to adapt to work environment, work force, and customers’ needs;
Work experience with ERP systems, SAP Preferred, for production planning and inventory management.
