Assistant Project Manager- Industrial

Position Overview:
Alterman, Inc. has an opening for the position of Assistant Project Manager (APM). Under the direction of the Project Manager, the APM will be responsible for assigned project components and customer interactions. The APM must accept responsibility and accountability for the execution of all project assignments as determined by the Project Manager and Alterman management. These tasks are to be carried out at the lowest cost, safely, and at the highest quality consistent with contract requirements and good business practices. Clear communication between the APM and the Project Manager is necessary to ensure expectations are met and assigned duties are affectively achieved.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Account Management (as assigned by the Project Manager):
Take ownership and responsibility for assigned duties.
Ensure long term customer/account satisfaction and grow revenue and opportunities in compliance with assigned duties.
Maintain effective communication with appropriate Alterman personnel, keeping them informed of all aspects relevant to the duties to which they have been assigned.
Advise the Project Manager of any significant problems encountered timely, along with recommended solutions.
2. Project Management (as assigned by the Project Manager): Assist in the management of projects or multiple customer accounts in accordance with Alterman's procedures and policies.
Responsible for project set-up.
Job Cost Entry for (material - labor - subcontracts - DJE).
Monitor project productivity (labor % complete/earned value - cost codes - man-loading estimate vs actual status).
Compile and track project submittals.
Draft and track RFI's to engineer or owner
Attend project meetings.
Project Close Out:
Punch list, signoff, final billing, retainage, warranty, returns, close P.O.'s, record documents.
Testing, training, and commissioning.
Schedule and lead project close out meetings and prepare close out documents.
3.Project Planning (as assigned by the Project Manager): Working in conjunction with the Preconstruction and Project Support group, take a proactive approach to project planning in order to maximize profit opportunities.
Review plans and specifications.
Participate in project kick off meetings in conjunction with Estimating group.
Participate in re-engineering project efforts to maximize profit opportunities.
Participate in Scheduling of work and coordination with overall project schedule
Qualifications: Completion of the Inside Wireman Apprenticeship or similar/equivalent training; or
Associate's Degree in Business Management, Construction Management or Construction Engineering; or
4 years of experience and education in the electrical construction industry; or
Beyond the desired education level listed above, this position requires continuous education directly related to this position. These hours, courses, training or certifications are to be approved by the employee's department manager before attending classes in order to be accepted under this plan.
