Duration: 06 Months
May be requested to provide on-call service (primary and secondary) for specific research units in the lab areas. The hours are between 5:00pm-7:30am Monday through Sunday. Tasks include but are not limited to transfer of contents from failing fridges and incubators to designated back up units, photograph original items, properly document failure, provide a work order of failing unit to facilities team and inform respective end-users about the transfer via email based on the SOP instructions.
Daily Responsibilities/Job Description:
• We are looking for a highly motivated glassware specialist to provide critical lab support as part of a dynamic client service team. The Glass wash team provides a centralized service responsible for dirty pickup, processing, and clean delivery of laboratory glass. Glass must be inspected to ensure all pieces are visually cleaned before returning to customer locations. A successful candidate should have great attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and be able to work independently.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Development
Mentor/Train new team members
Work with team lead to develop process improvement initiatives
Pick up and deliver glassware and plastic ware.
Observe the established procedures for the handling and transporting of glassware and contaminated items.
Operate autoclaves for decontamination or sanitization.
Operate glassware washers, dry heat sterilizers and ultrasonic baths
Maintain temperature chart recorders / equipment forms and use proper documentation.
Perform routine inspections/checks on glass wash and autoclave equipment
Prepare items for sanitization including glassware, caps and related articles, employing procedural steps during the process.
Inspect glassware for cleanliness and structural defects.
Routinely checks inventory of glassware, notifying Site Manager of deficiencies.
Provide housekeeping of glassware processing areas.
Follow all procedures in performing all aspects of glassware processing.
Perform monthly de-scale and routine maintenance.
Use Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for all paperwork.
Observe all safety precautions and be proactive in raising safety and operational concerns.
Complete all required training in a timely manner.
This role will work closely with other teams to seamlessly deliver lab support services.
Will be required to cross-train and back-up other lab support areas as needed.
Demonstrates appropriate use of relevant equipment/software after training.
Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.

Qualifications/years of experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field OR
Associate's degree in a scientific field with 2 or more years of experience in a related field OR
High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in a related field
Must Haves:
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent customer service skills complemented by an ability to listen to and interpret client requests.
Technology Requirements:
• Previous glass wash experience preferred
Prior Mentoring experience
Experience creating SOPs
MS Office Skills: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.
Additional Requirements:
• Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.
Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).
Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing and labeling hazardous waste.
Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.
May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against hazards present in the laboratory environment.
