Job Description The devices we make at SEL are embedded in the power grid. They prevent blackouts. They make outages safer and shorter in duration; they add cybersecurity, automation, and communication. They use cutting-edge technologies and operate at speeds that push other pieces of the grid to go faster. As an Application Engineer, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide. This position will be located in the Nashua, NH.
As an Application Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
Maintain and improve knowledge of power systems, protection or automation and all related SEL products.
Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact.
Applies principles, theories, standard techniques, and concepts to provide solutions to a variety of problems.
Contributes to product specifications, application and testing software, and literature.
Participates in SEL marketing and sales activities, industry technical meetings, and conferences.
Can teach SEL University courses within core area.
Publishes application guides, notes, template guides, software tools, and/or technical conference papers.
Increasing contributions through customer feedback process, IMI teams, and contributing entries to AE FAQ or knowledge database.
This job might be for you if you have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent engineering degree)
Typically 2+ years of experience in power systems, industry practices, and focus area*
Ability to travel 30%
Listens carefully; provides positive, helpful and professional communication to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrates composure and professionalism under difficult circumstances.
Takes on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks. Experiments to find new solutions.

Proven technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills

Pay Range Data
The pay range for this position is $79,465 - $124.315. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
