Key Responsibilities
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
In collaboration with the Executive Vice President, determine and pursue goals for achieving an increase in non-dues revenue for the association, in order to increase funding for more services and enhancements for members
Identify, analyze, and recommend expansion of current business development programs or the creation of new programs, projects, activities to generate increased non-dues revenue
With the Partnership Manager, develop relationships with endorsed providers, providers of member discount programs, key current sponsors, potential new sponsors, and publication advertisers, to maximize their value, support, and to ensure their long-term participation
Oversee the Partnership Manager sales of exhibits, sponsorships, and advertisers for all events, as well as ad sales in newsletters/publications
Additional responsibilities as requested at the discretion of the Executive Vice President
MEETINGS/EVENTS
With the Meetings & Events Manager, plan for new and recurring meetings, events, and webinars, after reviewing past data, projecting interest, analyzing potential changes needed, and reviewing budgets
Plan and execute all board meetings ensuring quality in every aspect
With input from the Meetings & Events Manager, any related committees and other affiliated staff, determine the best speakers/presenters to invite or engage
Plan and produce the annual regional conferences and trade shows, Stars of the Industry Awards/Annual Meeting, Legislative Summit, Hospitality Foundation Gala, and Trends + Insights Conference with input and assistance from the Meetings & Events Manager
Send comprehensive meetings and events schedule with calendar invites to board members and staff annually
Oversee setting and staying within expense budget and exceeding revenue for each function/event
Provide detailed accounting of each event following its conclusion with support from the Finance & Operations Director
Plan and/or oversee other managed associations’ events with assistance from the Meetings & Events Manager
MARKETING
Manage and implement the timely marketing of business development offerings, including trade show exhibits, newsletter and publication advertising, sponsorships of the conference, seminars/webinars, and events, and the endorsed vendor program
Manage and implement the timely marketing for encouraging participation in meetings and events
Plan and coordinate social media for events and partners with assistance of the Meetings & Events Manager and PR firm
Contribute to the CHLA magazine, including coordinating with the outside contracted publisher and designer, content collection, proofing, and advertising
Oversee and work directly with the third-party consultant such as graphic designer, printers and other consultants or third parties on flyers, social media graphics, PowerPoints, signage and other promotional materials.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred. Additional degrees or certifications a plus
Minimum of three years’ experience in event planning, business development, non-profit associations, and/or foundations
Highly effective in verbal and written communications, including public speaking
Experience in preparing marketing materials and messaging
Strong organizational skills demonstrating attention to detail and meeting deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a valued member of a team to accomplish tasks and goals
Ability to manage and motivate team members and volunteers
Experience with Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Teams platform, database software (Salesforce/Fonteva preferred), and social media
Ability to travel and work as needed at meetings and events, some of which may require overnight stays, including preparing and transporting related materials and supplies.
Ability to adhere to association policies and procedures
