About the Position:

Two positions will be filled from this job announcement - one is a full time merit position, and the other

is a grand funded position budgeted through 7/1/2025. Continued employment in this position is not guaranteed and contingent upon renewal of grant funding.

These positions are assigned to Early Childhood Services in the Children, Youth and Family Services division of the Department of Health and Human Services. These positions report directly to the Manager for Child Care Support Services.

Early Childhood Services (ECS) serves children from birth to age five with services that support families, early care and education programs, and the community. The program administers the Federally mandated Infants and Toddlers Program (ITP) in collaboration with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), the County's Resource and Referral Center (R&R) as part of the statewide CCRC Network for support of high-quality childcare and the early education workforce, the State Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Project (IECMH), and the County Child Care in Public Space Program

(CCIPS). ECS staffs the Commission on Child Care and Early Childhood Coordinating Council (ECCC). ECS oversees several contractual services including community-based Pre-Kindergarten, home visiting, and family support.

This position will provide coaching, training and technical assistance to providers who serve infants and toddlers in their program or family childcare programs.

What you will be doing:

Provide technical assistance to providers who serve infants and toddlers in their program or family childcare programs.

Support teachers in lesson planning, providing developmentally appropriate activities, and materials, and arranging classroom environments.

Provide one to one coaching to early care educators as requested.

Conduct training on the Pyramid Model practices for promoting the social and emotional competence of infants and toddlers in an early childhood classroom; 45-hour Infant and Toddler Critical Competencies and other subjects that may impact Infants and Toddlers.

Develop, update, and prepare training as a certified trainer by MSDE for approval to be delivered locally, state and nationally.

Assist in developing effective strategies at the state and county level for addressing emerging issues in early childhood education by participating in team and interagency meetings and workgroups.

Foster positive collaboration with key ECS programs (MCITP and IECMH), MSDE-Licensing Staff, MCITP regional sites, Early Head Start, and both Judy Center programs that will allow for collaboration when appropriate.

Collaborate and represent ECS with other programs who support the Infant and Toddler's providers.

Collect, record and document data in required format.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Two years' experience working as a coach or trainer to early childhood educators serving children 0 to birth and knowledge.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, in Early Childhood or related field (Family Studies, Psychology).

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria

Bilingual Preferred: Spanish

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:

MSDE Approved trainer with 2 years or more of experience developing and presenting at local and/or state and national level.

2 years' experience providing support and coaching to early childhood programs serving children birth to 5, with a concentration towards infants and toddlers.

Reliable in administering TPOT/TIPOTES and/or CLASS assessments.

Knowledge of childcare delivery systems and COMAR regulations.

English/Spanish at the basic level.
