Job Description
Magis Americas is seeking external accounting and bookkeeping services (the “consultant”) to support the financial management of the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining accurate and timely accounting records, processing billing, preparing financial reports, and providing analysis and recommendations for improvement. The consultant will report directly to the Executive Director and work closely with the Development Manager and Board Treasurer.
General Responsibilities
Provide guidance and recommendations to strengthen and streamline the organization’s accounting systems and financial reporting.
Maintain accounting records in accordance with generally accepted nonprofit accounting principles.
Monitor and process billing related to Accounts Receivable and Payable, including the preparation of international wires and ACH transfers.
Contribute to grant management by tracking proper allocations of income and expenses.
Monthly preparation of financial reports, including, but not limited to, account reconciliations, GL maintenance, and cash flow reporting.
Assisting with budget preparations.
Assisting with 990 preparation, annual external audit, and other compliance reports.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, accounting, business administration, or other relevant field).
Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures relating to nonprofit accounting, financial controls, and financial information systems.
7-10 years experience in accounting with nonprofit organizations.
Experience managing financial reports for multi-year grants/contracts from private foundations.
Experience managing financial reports for grants/contracts from public funding sources (USAID, Department of Labor, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
Ability to manage time effectively and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent writing, editing and oral presentation skills.
Excellent computer skills, including Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, Google Drive and CRM (Salesforce) software.
