About the Role
The Company is seeking a VP of Legal to lead a dynamic team in providing legal advice and support across all aspects of its business. This includes cutting-edge product development, U.S. and international government contracting, commercial transactions, satellite constellation operations, and platform and analytic capabilities. The successful candidate will have a Juris Doctorate with at least 10 years of experience, including a minimum of four years in the space or defense sectors, and four years with US government contracts. They should be adept at negotiating and drafting complex government and commercial contracts, especially licensing and software agreements, and have experience managing a small legal and contract team. The role requires a leader with strong team and inter-team cooperation skills, the ability to balance competing priorities, and excellent communication skills.As the senior legal advisor, the VP of Legal will be a key member of the leadership team, providing counsel on legal, business, and operational matters. Responsibilities also include ensuring strong corporate governance, monitoring regulatory compliance, leading SOX activities, and performing risk assessments. The role demands a candidate with the highest level of integrity and ethics, and the ability to judge the merits of litigation and manage a strategic defense. Preferred qualifications include substantial experience with government contracting, expertise with teaming arrangements, and experience with satellite licensing and regulation. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in managing a legal team in a fast-paced environment, partnering with operations, engineering, and contracting teams, and negotiating complex strategic agreements.
