About Gupta-Klinsky India Institute,

Established in 2020, GKII serves as a dynamic platform dedicated to partnering with India to deepen our understanding of pressing issues and their global implications. Our mission is to engage Johns Hopkins faculty, staff, students, and alumni in collaborative endeavors with Indian partners to drive positive change through research, education, policy, and practice. As an institute, we prioritize equity, sustainability, evidence-based approaches, and fostering mutually respectful partnerships.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Work Project: Supervise priority technical areas such as TB, Education, and AI, participate in project-related meetings, supervise the advancement of core initiatives and manage an interdisciplinary Steering Committee. Create strategy to advance issues and technical areas important and relevant to diverse university stakeholders.

Fundraising and Community Building: Build a coalition of students, faculty and staff, and alumni who connect over India and see the potential in partnership and collaboration. Develop and execute fundraising strategies in partnership with university Development and Alumni Relations, maintain donor relationships, manage the Advisory Board, identify grant opportunities, and build the Institute's endowment.

Communications and External Affairs: Develop, expand, and drive engagement within JHU and across India, establishing connections with government stakeholders, universities, public and private sector organizations and oversee social media and other communications channels. Oversee and increase awareness of the Johns Hopkins University brand within India.

Administration: Oversee project-related business systems and processes, manage budgets, and coordinate legal and risk management activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field.

Ten years work experience in leadership and management role, preferably in related fields such as healthcare or public health, politics, NGO, fundraising, or academics.

This position does not allow for education or experience substitutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree in a related field.

Demonstrated experience in India-related work and program development.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Hindi or other Indian languages preferred.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to navigate complex organizations.

Passion for scientific and health-related research and comfort with budgetary planning.

Familiarity with university settings, especially Johns Hopkins University, is advantageous.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency

Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
