Overview:

We are looking for LPNs to support our Military Servicemen, Families and Retirees.

These positions will be located at the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center at Fort Meade, MD.

Fort Meade is the Army's second largest installation by population with more than 64,000 employees that represent the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Space Force. Fort Meade's more than 120 partner agencies include the DoD's newest Combatant Command - US Space Force, as well as the National Security Agency, DISA/JFH DODIN Combatant Command - U.S. Space Force, U.S. Cyber Command - the National Security Agency, Defense Information Systems Agency/Joint Forces Headquarters for the Department of Defense Information Network, Defense Media Activity, and several non-DoD agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency and Architect of the Capitol.

This announcement may be used to fill Practical/Vocational Nurse positions in the following specialty areas: Obstetric/Gynecologic, Family, General, Primary Care, Pediatric, Occupational/Community Health, Dermatology.

Responsibilities:

Scope of services include, but are not limited to;

Obtain information from patient and/or family to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care.

Perform initial patient work-up to assess patient care and/or treatment.

Take vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, pain level, height, weight, measurement of head circumference and length); perform a behavioral health screening.

Provide individualized nursing care to patients of all ages based upon the physician's medical plan, the nursing assessment and the physical, mental and emotional needs of the patient.

Assist physician with various examinations and diagnostic procedures.

Screen and review immunization records to select required immunizations, correct dosages, and administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups.

Perform teaching to patients and/or family regarding self-care procedures and documents teaching.

Completes required records (both paper and electronic) pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.

Exercises independent judgment with full responsibility for professional diagnosis, treatment, referral and disposition of patients, IAW Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.

Ensures the highest standards of professional practice and ethics are maintained.

Participates in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and quality assurance activities as assigned.

Work is subject to rotating shifts and/or irregular tour of duty to include weekends, nights, and/or holidays, depending on area of assignment.

Qualifications:

NOTE: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered for this position. You must include this information with your application package.

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute for experience.

Positions may be designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

A pre-placement physical examination may be required.

Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
