Become part of our accounting department
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Accounting, Americas. As the Head of department, you will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the growth journey within the Ramboll Americas. This role is accountable for group reporting, statutory compliance, accounting operations and financial controlling of BS. This role requires a leader who can think strategically but stay on top of tactical matters. The role will be part of the Global F&A leadership team and located in Arlington, VA.
Key responsibilities:
1. Accounting operations oversight:
Lead the preparation of accurate and timely group financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Manage the end-to-end statutory and tax reporting process, liaising with external auditors to facilitate smooth audits and adherence to reporting deadlines
Supervise daily accounting tasks, including meticulous oversight of accounts payable processes, travel expense management, and credit control
Spearhead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy in financial statements and a seamless transition for subsequent reporting periods.
Implement robust internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and contribute to the continual enhancement of financial operations efficiency
2. Transformation management:
Drive process improvements within accounting operations, fostering standardization and efficiency gains
Oversee the implementation of advanced process controls to minimize risks and enhance the reliability of financial data
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technological solutions that optimize financial processes
Proactively engage with the larger Ramboll group to align on best practices, ensuring a cohesive and streamlined approach to accounting operations
Spearhead risk management initiatives, identifying potential areas of vulnerability and implementing proactive measures
3. Mergers and acquisitions:
Conduct/support due diligence exercises, providing comprehensive financial analysis and risk assessments to support strategic decision-making
Lead accounting post-merger integration workstream to ensure a seamless assimilation of financial systems, processes, and reporting structures
Oversee purchase accounting activities, ensuring accurate valuation and accounting treatment of acquired entities
Collaborate with legal and operational teams to address financial aspects of mergers and acquisitions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
4. People leadership:
Provide visionary leadership to the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
Develop and implement talent management strategies, ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary skills to meet evolving business needs
Champion a collaborative and inclusive work environment, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing
Facilitate professional development opportunities for team members, nurturing a high-performance culture
Act as a liaison between the team and senior management, ensuring strategic alignment and effective communication of departmental goals
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications:
Qualified CPA with a minimum of 12 to 15 years of relevant experience
Proven experience in managing mergers and acquisitions
Demonstrated leadership in managing accounting teams
Expertise in process and project management
Skills:
Strong soft skills for effective team collaboration
Result-oriented with a focus on achieving strategic goals
Action-oriented with the ability to drive change and improvement
Comfort with ambiguity and adaptability to evolving scenarios
Strategic thinking for optimized financial processes
