Job Summary

Instructs students in computer information systems, information technology, programming and computer application courses using appropriate software and techniques utilizing learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas; and teaches, develops and prepares course materials for newly emerging and established technologies, processes, and content for structured, hybrid, and online classes.

Essential Functions

Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom (at Main and North campuses) and/or online setting; uses multiple instructional delivery systems with an emphasis on technology; uses course management software such as Canvas; develops business programs; develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; evaluates and assesses knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades exams; develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars and/or workshops; maintains office hours to assist and advises students; and participates in district-wide, campus, and external committees.

Minimum Qualifications

You need 5 years of occupational experience in the following fields:

Computer-related fields and industries, e.g. Computer Information Systems, Computer Programming, Technical Help Desk/Support, Microsoft Office (MOU), Microsoft Technology, Server, Network, Database Operations, Cyber, Security, Cloud Computing, Hardware Specialist, Software Specialist, Linux, Red Hat, Ethical Hacking, Web Designer, Web Developer, Data Analyst. This is not an all-inclusive list. If a subfield is in question it will go to the CIS IC for a decision.

OR you will need 3 years of occupational experience in the following fields as well as a Bachelor's Degree in any field:

Computer-related fields and industries, e.g. Computer Information Systems, Computer Programming, Technical Help Desk/Support, Microsoft Office (MOU), Microsoft Technology, Server, Network, Database Operations, Cyber, Security, Cloud Computing, Hardware Specialist, Software Specialist, Linux, Red Hat, Ethical Hacking, Web Designer, Web Developer, Data Analyst. OR you will need Master's Degree or higher in the following fields:

Desired Qualifications

A. Three years of teaching experience preferably at the community college level in computer information systems, information technology, or computer applications.

B. Experience as a technology lead, programmer, or equivalent.

C. Experience teaching online, face-to-face, and hybrid courses using LMS systems like Canvas.

D. Experience developing online, face-to-face, and hybrid courses using LMS systems like Canvas.

E. Demonstrated commitment to professional development in the field to be taught. Professional development participation should be listed on resume.

F. Professional certification(s) in the area of Microsoft, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology including but not limited to MCP, MPA, MOS, Google, Linux, CompTIA

Special Working Conditions Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense

Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations

May require numerous evenings or weekends

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen

May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
