Contract Duration : The initial contract will be for 6 months, with the potential for extension subject to approval. The ultimate goal is to transition to a permanent role if the budget permits.
Work Schedule : The role follows a hybrid flex schedule. The first few weeks will be dedicated to training, understanding the work environment, setting up access, and getting up to speed with a standard 40-hour work week. Following this, a three-week rotation schedule will be implemented. One week in this rotation will require being on call 24/7, including weekends, while maintaining a 40-hour work week. The remaining two weeks will not require on-call hours but will still involve a 40-hour work week. On-call hours will typically be around 5 hours a week, depending on production failures.
Job Summary : The role involves providing advanced support to multiple application groups using various database technologies. The primary responsibility is managing the full lifecycle of our on-premises Oracle databases and those migrating to the AWS cloud. The role involves daily collaboration with developers and system administrators to design, configure, construct, deploy, and support databases and data integration processing.
Key Responsibilities :
On-premises Expertise :
Provide advanced support to multiple application groups using various database technologies, primarily Oracle and SQL server databases.
Install, configure, and support Oracle databases deployed on UNIX/Solaris servers.
Upgrade existing 19c databases to the latest 23i release, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.
Perform ongoing administration tasks such as user and security management, schema management, and performance optimization.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, maintaining data integrity and system stability.
Implement and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and third-party tools like Cohesity.
Troubleshoot database-related issues across all environments.
Collaborate closely with solution architects, product engineers, and other teams.
Cloud Migration and Management :
Design, build, and support RDS instances in the AWS cloud using Terraform infrastructure as code.
Migrate on-premises SQL Server databases to the AWS cloud, prioritizing efficient data transfer and minimal disruption.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of RDS instances.
This position pays between $60-65/hr
