SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator to join our innovative application development and support team at AlloSource, a leading tissue bank. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server, a strong background in database management, and a passion for maintaining data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role is critical to our mission of advancing medical technology and ensuring the highest quality of our products.

Pay: $65,835.83 - $82,831/yr. based upon relevant years of experience
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Database Management and Performance:
Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure high performance and reliability.
Proactively monitor system performance, conduct regular tuning, and troubleshoot complex database issues.
Automate routine database maintenance tasks using scripts and tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Database Security:
Implement and manage database encryption and masking to protect sensitive information.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
Develop and enforce robust database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
Data Backup and Recovery:
Design and implement comprehensive backup and recovery plans.
Perform regular backups, conduct restore tests, and validate data integrity and availability.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan.
Database Design and Development:
Collaborate with application developers to design and optimize efficient and scalable database schemas.
Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and scripts to support dynamic application functionality and project requirements.
Ensure data models adhere to industry standards and company requirements, fostering consistency and quality.
Support advanced reporting needs, including Power BI and SSRS.
Collaborate with data integration specialists to support ETL processes and data warehousing.
Support and Maintenance:
Provide expert-level support for database-related issues and coordinate with IT team members to resolve them swiftly.
Plan and execute maintenance activities, including upgrades and patches, to ensure database systems are current and secure.
Be available for off-hours maintenance and on-call rotations to maintain system uptime.
Provide training and mentoring to junior DBAs and other IT staff on database best practices and new technologies.
Documentation and Compliance:
Document all database configurations, processes, and procedures thoroughly and accurately.
Ensure full compliance with industry regulations and standards, particularly those relevant to medical devices.
Capacity Planning:
Perform capacity planning and forecasting to ensure databases can handle future growth and demands.
Monitor and manage database storage to optimize performance and cost efficiency
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
Professional Experience: Equivalent of 3 - 5 years in IT or a related field or 7 years of experience in lieu of a degree
Database Administration: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator
Microsoft SQL Server: Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server and associated tools (e.g., SSMS, SSRS, SSIS)
Performance Tuning: Experience in database performance tuning and optimization
Backup and Recovery: Strong understanding of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity practices
Preferred Experience:
Technical Training: Training or certifications in Microsoft SQL Server, such as MCSA or MCSE
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of FDA, CGTP, and AATB standards related to medical devices
Security Training: Training in database security practices, such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP, is a plus
Regulated Industry: Experience working within a regulated industry
Database Administration : 5+ years of experience in database administration, especially within the medical device manufacturing industry
Microsoft-Centric Environment : Experience with Microsoft-centric environments (e.g., Windows Server, Azure)
Best Practices: Familiarity with database design and development best practices in a regulated industry
HIPAA and PII Compliance: Knowledge and experience in ensuring database systems comply with HIPAA regulations and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
