**Summary**

DLA Piper is seeking a patent agent to join its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice group, Patent Development and Strategy subgroup. This position is open to our Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Reston, San Diego, Palo Alto, and Seattle offices.

**Educatio** **n**

+ 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree

+ Undergraduate or graduate degree in molecular biology

+ PhD, in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines (excluding chemistry, medical device, or pharmaceutical sciences) preferred

**Certificates**

+ Registration with the USPTO

**Experience**

+ 2+ years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications.

+ Prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm preferred.

+ Litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademark experience preferred.

**General & Essential Job Expectations**

**Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements**

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

**Work Environment**

+ Hybrid with some in-office expectations or remote (as appropriate).

+ Some travel required.

**Pay Transparency**

In accordance with Washington State’s, California’s and Washington, D.C.’s Pay Transparency Law, the pay rate for this position, if hired to work in Washington State, California, or Washington, D.C. is $120,000 – $225,000 per year.   The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate’s geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
