Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of workers engaged in service to the Peace Corps mailroom by performing the following duties in accordance with the Statement of Work personally or through subordinate Lead Workers and staff. Serves as Project Manager in absence of same. Designated as "key personnel" on this contract. The position listed as Deputy Mail Operations Specialist in the Statement of Work. Additionally, this position is responsible for the duties and responsibilities of a lead facility clerk when needed. Provides support to the Chief, Facility Management the layout setup, and facility maintenance concerns of Shriver Hall and offices within the Peace Corps Headquarters. Serves as back up to the Driver in absence of the same. Must be able to achieve and maintain a secret clearance.

Act as a team leader in the work of all contractor personnel who process mail each workday, to ensure compliance with internal mail processing standards and operating procedures and the requirements of this contract. The Assistant Project Manager shall confer with the Project Manager to address problems related to the personnel employed under this contract, and assist in the resolution of all personnel problems.

Assist in providing on-the-job training in mail processing methods and procedures to newly assigned messengers, and developing visual aids, as requires promoting operational efficiency. Assist with the implementation of consumer service plans.

Assist in data gathering for various productivity reports on the volume of interoffice mail pieces processed daily.

Resolve working-level complaints and/or problems regarding sorted USPS and interoffice mail, and resolving other operational problems within the scope of this contract.

Ensure that routine maintenance on mailroom equipment is performed, and participating in sorting configuration and system changes to accommodate increased mail volumes and Peace Corps organizational changes.

Ensure that adequate personnel is available to accomplish required work, and initiating replenishment actions for expendable equipment furnished by the government.

Resolves worker's problems or consults with superiors and HQ if necessary.

Provides leadership to staff by fostering teamwork while balancing team and individual responsibilities; giving feedback to nurture a positive team spirit and quality performance; and modeling dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and professional personal appearance.

Assures appropriate conduct and decorum at Peace Corps as dictated by Didlake policy and contract requirements.

Assures safety of employees by monitoring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies.

Completes required paperwork and/or documentation.

Coordinates and provides office layout, teardown, and setup of modular furniture. Responds to office occupant inquiries concerning facility maintenance concerns. Provides solutions and/or coordinates actions with the Project Manager.

Performs driving duties in the absence of the same.

Provides back up for Central Receiving Clerk.

Requirements

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

Comprehensive knowledge of mail classes; working knowledge of the operation and use of personal computers; minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in mailroom services.

Familiarity with the safe operation and use of mail center equipment and power tools used by facility clerks.

Must possess strong communication skills including the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; to write routine reports and correspondence, and to present information to groups of employees.

Ability to interact, train, and resolves the personnel issues of staff with assorted disabilities.

Must also project a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers, and Didlake clients.

Must possess an insurable driving record.

Must be able to receive and maintain building access as well as clearance.
