Job Summary:
As the IT Director for a mid-sized forest management and lumber manufacturing organization, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's information technology systems and infrastructure. You will lead a team of IT professionals, develop, and implement IT strategies, manage IT projects, and ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the company's IT operations. You will work closely with other departments and senior management to align IT initiatives with the company's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement the company's IT strategy, aligning it with overall business goals. Plan, develop, and manage the IT budget, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources to support business needs. Keep abreast of the latest technology trends and innovations to drive continuous improvement in the company's IT systems and processes.
IT Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day IT operations, including network infrastructure, servers, storage, security, cloud services, and end-user support. Ensure the availability, security, and performance of IT systems and applications, and implement best practices for IT operations management.
IT Project Management: Plan, execute, and manage IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments. Define project scope, develop project plans, allocate resources, monitor progress, and ensure successful project delivery within budget and timeline.
Team Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing IT team. Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and facilitate professional development for team members. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture that promotes innovation, accountability, and teamwork.
Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage IT vendors, contractors, and service providers. Negotiate contracts, monitor vendor performance, and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and security requirements.
Cybersecurity and Data Privacy: Develop and implement cybersecurity and data privacy policies, procedures, and controls to protect the company's IT assets and data. Stay updated on the latest threats and vulnerabilities and implement measures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
IT Governance and Compliance: Establish and maintain IT governance frameworks, policies, and procedures. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards such as HIPPA.
Relationship Management: Collaborate with other departments, senior management, and business stakeholders to understand their IT needs and provide strategic IT guidance. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, communicate IT initiatives, and manage expectations.
Qualifications:
Must Have: Strong knowledge of VMWare, Veeam Enterprise, ISP vendors, software license negotiations, and SQL.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a small to mid-sized company.
Strong technical knowledge and experience in managing IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, storage, and cloud services.
Proven experience in IT strategy development, project management, team leadership, vendor management, cybersecurity, and IT governance.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, ITIL, PMP, or equivalent, are a plus.
