The Vice President of Communications shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

This position will provide vision, mission, purpose, and strategic leadership for internal and external communications to amplify the ministry of The Navigators, to know Christ, make him known, and help others do the same. The VP of Communications will work collaboratively across departments to translate the priorities of the US Leadership Team into impactful brand position and communication strategies for a diverse audience, including staff, missions, ministry partners, the church, and the public.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership and Supervision [95%]

Provide vision, strategic leadership, planning, and decision-making for Communications, in alignment with the Navigators National Strategy, National Initiatives, and in line with Navigators brand standards.

Hire, train, develop, supervise, and retain qualified Communications staff, building an effective leadership team by facilitating strong collaboration, championing understanding of organizational interdependencies, and fostering strategic decision making and organizational efficiency.

Manage the Communications strategy and functions, including Public Relations and donor development.

Provide biblical and theological reflection on issues relating to The Navigators communication.

Collaborate closely with the US Leadership Team to steward the national brand of The Navigators and provide cohesive internal messaging to several diverse internal and external audiences.

Facilitate productive collaboration and partnerships cross departmentally by bringing together various functions and teams within The Navigators to develop a shared vision that aligns with the company's strategic goals, US Leadership Team and objectives.

Develop and manage annual budgets for programs and efforts in accordance with Navigators policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities (5%) Participate in Navigators on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.

Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver's Authorization, and other releases as required.

Administer annual PPRs for direct reports.

Other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators. Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: knowing Christ, making him known, and helping others do the same.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of senior communication leadership experience. Minimum 5 years leading a communication team with measurable achievements and outcomes by bringing teams and functions together to achieve organizational strategic goals and objectives. A proven track record of collaborating at a C-suite level and developing strategic plans that sets direction for all internal communications with the ability to set clear direction and driven results.

Technical Knowledge & Skills: Microsoft Office proficiency.

Communication & Leadership: Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong working relationships, and to facilitate negotiation, problem solving, decision-making and delegation required.

Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or administration preferred. Field-related ministry knowledge, skills, and experience required to successfully perform the responsibilities of this role. Significant theological acuity and financial acumen.

Compensation Range: $125,000 - $135,000 / annually
