GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as a senior member of the IT unit and provides leadership for strategic development, advancement and management of the college's IT Infrastructure, services and enterprise applications.
Assists the VPIT with operational management and leadership of IT departments with facilitating campus-wide coordination, planning and delivery of services. Responsible for leading campus-wide IT initiatives and projects. Also responsible for planning, systems analysis, and user-liaison functions supporting the college's information technology services. Responsible for developing and documenting IT plans, assessments, procedures and policies. Provides direct supervision of the Web services, Help Desk, Print Shop and core work and strategic direction of the IT departments.
WORK PERFORMED
The executive director is responsible for the leadership and administrative oversight of IT departments' staff, operations and services. Provides operational leadership to the strategic and tactical execution of core infrastructure, architecture and enterprise applications teams in attaining the college's current and future technology goals
Assists the VPIT in the preparation of strategic and operational plans. Conducts research and offers recommendations regarding the adoption and deployment of technology systems and services. Acts as the project manager for the implementation of major campus-wide initiatives.
Responsible for providing technology solutions through the effective management and continuous improvement of the technology environment including all applications development, infrastructure, information security, disaster recovery, compliance, data management, network services, and support services and operations.
Responsible for developing and implementing campus technology policies, procedures, and standards. This includes, but is not limited to, publication of the Technology Plan, Security Plan and Risk Assessment, campus compliance with Payment Card Industry - Data Security Standards, Disaster Recovery Plan, Proper User of Information Technology Procedures and business continuity.
Responsible for monitoring, implementing and supervising the outcomes of the technology plan, security reports, policies and meeting regulatory requirements.
Responsible for developing and monitoring IT department budget for core work and strategic projects. IT directors will prepare annual budgets for the executive director's review and input. The executive director will prepare budget reports and provide analysis of fiscal requirement, forecasts, and expenditures.
Responsible for managing campus-wide contracts with third-party agencies for printing, office copiers, and technology services.
Assist the VPIT in the collection and analysis of organizational performance measures and vital signs. Briefs outcomes and develops recommendations to improve organizational effectiveness.
Provides direct leadership, supervision and management oversight of the Technology Help Desk, Student Computer Open Labs, IT office staff, and Print Shop and Web Services.
Researches, gathers, and compiles information for various reports and communications, including inputs to state agencies, Board of Trustees, President's Team, and college community.
Communicates with College constituencies regarding technology policies, services, and processes.
Serves as Chair, Technology Cross-Functional Team and as required, represents the VPIT at various affinity group meetings and advisory councils.
SUPERVISION
This position supervises Associate Director of IT Services, Web Enterprise Services Manager and Print Shop Supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Salaried position. Overtime, evening and weekend work may be required. Employee may be required to use pager or cell phone to maintain office contact.
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
BS degree (Masters preferred), in information systems computer science or related field and 7 years related experience with 5 years in a supervisory/management capacity
Knowledgeable of information technology systems and infrastructures.
Good technical writing skills to create and produce reports, policies and documents
