Regional Transportation Planners are responsible for transportation operations and TMS management. A well-rounded candidate will have experience with daily transportation operations, and understand the cost structures of hiring dedicated carriers, contract carriers, and private fleet capacity. Provide continuous improvement by ensuring high service levels and driving costs down through TMS analytics, process streamlining, and aggressive rate negotiations. Study and understand transport market rate and capacity trends and cost pressures.
Role & Responsibilities Include:
Manage the movement of products/equipment/materials in accordance with organizational policy and procedure
Formulate comprehensive and cost-efficient logistics plans for local execution
Communicate with Regional and Local planners to ensure efficient, cost-effective transportation solutions are being executed
Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with carriers
Communicate with system support any relevant technical issues
Monitor, record, analyze and report on activities, metrics, trends, financial results, and recommendations relating to freight expense
Investigate, plan and implement strategically effective and relevant transport methods which optimally meet the needs of the organization and its customers
Based on statistical analysis, use fact-based judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in the transportation sector
Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance and enhancement
Manage and audit transportation invoice inflow
Qualifications
Education/Registration
Bachelors degree in Logistics, Transportation or other Business related field preferred
Experience
5+ years of transportation operational experience
Experience with Oracle’s Transportation Management system or other Transportation Management System Preferred
Private Fleet Management

Technical Competencies:
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint
Project/Negotiation management skills
Proficient use in TMS systems “OTM Preferred”
Strong oral and written communication skills are required

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 to $80,000 + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
