Job Summary:
The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program Analyst is generally responsible for the collection, organization, analysis, and reporting of University data in support of the system-wide Enterprise Risk Management program. Analysts are responsible for: learning the University's and ERM program policies and guidelines; maintaining the University's mitigation assessment tool (MATRX), collaborating with system office departments and campus staff to collect data, analyze for accuracy, develop follow-up, and prepare reports; working to provide independent analysis of data and identifying data points that support such analysis; supporting travel risk management for the President's Office and campuses, developing materials for meetings, including Board of Trustee presentations; working collaboratively within the departments within the President's Office as well as with campuses.
Essential Functions:
Under the direction of the Director of Enterprise Risk Management, the ERM Program Analyst is primarily responsible for the following functions although other duties and projects will be assigned from time-to-time:
Enterprise Risk Management:
Assist in the implementation of the University's Enterprise-wide Risk Management program by
Supporting the maintenance and enhancement of the system-wide ERM framework and program
Maintaining the system-wide risk registry
Coordinating with members of the ERM governance structure and campuses to identify, assess and prioritize risks
Assisting in identifying emerging risks and risk opportunity
Maintaining and enhancing MATRX, the University's home-grown mitigation assessment tool
Supporting the identification, documentation, and monitoring of risk mitigation strategies
Measuring the impact of risk mitigation strategies on risk
Maintaining the ERM website
Conducting research to advance the University's system-wide ERM program
Developing ERM reports, presentations, spreadsheets, dashboards and other documents
Developing ERM training and awareness materials to maintain a risk-conscious culture
Exploring available technology options to support the ERM program
Maintaining data in ERM technology/software, should such technology/software be implemented
Supporting travel risk management
Supporting the maintenance of the system-wide Travel Registry
Supporting travel risk management activities for the President's Office and campuses
Support maintaining the travel registration portion of the Travel and Expense website
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders as needed
Participate in training programs as needed
Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness:
Assist in assessing the University's continuity of operations program
Assist in developing and maintaining the Administration and Finance Business Continuity Plan
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the quarterly meetings of campus emergency managers with organizing meetings, preparing documents, and supporting the chair as needed
Build strong relationships and work collaboratively with campus stakeholders in all aspects of enterprise risk management
Communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates - providing information to supervisors, co-workers and subordinate by telephone, in written form, email or in-person
Making decisions and solving problems - analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution to solve problems
Other Functions:
Support other projects and initiatives of the System Office as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience):
Bachelor's degree required or equivalent
One to three years' work experience in related field
Excellent listening, interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, presentation, written and oral communication skills
Detail-oriented with a healthy respect for quality work products and timelines
Strong organization and communication skills
Experience working with diverse groups
Strong problem solving and project management skills while having the ability to manage changing/multiple priorities in a highly interactive and confidential environment
Expertise with MS Excel
Experience with other MS tools including Word and PowerPoint
Comfortable learning new systems such as ERM software, budget applications and financial systems
Must be able to interact effectively within a team environment and independently, requiring little supervision on all but unique matters
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience):
Experience in higher education or government/public sector setting
Prior experience in risk frameworks, risk analysis and/or operational risk reporting
Working Conditions:
Must be able to travel to all UMass campuses and Boston central office as needed.
Typical Office Environment
May require occasional hours on nights and weekends and availability outside of standard hours during emergencies.
Additional Details:
Salary commensurate with experience up to $70,000
