Located in the heart of New Orleans, we are a Research University that has been around since 1834 providing higher education to all.
The Senior Manager Tax Compliance will be responsible for overseeing all tax compliance activities for the organization. This individual will ensure that all tax filings, including 990, 990T, and other federal, state, and local tax returns, are completed accurately and in a timely manner. They will also be responsible for conducting thorough research on tax laws and regulations to ensure the organization remains in compliance.
What you will do
Oversee and manage all tax compliance activities for the organization
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all tax filings, including 990, 990T, and other federal, state, and local tax returns
Conduct research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential tax savings opportunities
Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and provide guidance to the organization
Manage relationships with external tax advisors and consultants
Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary financial information for tax filings
Review and approve tax filings prepared by junior tax staff
Keep abreast of industry best practices in tax compliance and implement new processes and procedures as needed
Develop and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities to facilitate smooth tax audits
What you will need
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, Master of Taxation preferred
Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax compliance
Extensive knowledge of tax laws and regulations, particularly for non-profit organizations
Experience with tax research and analysis
Strong understanding of 990, 990T, and other tax returns
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Experience managing a team and working with external advisors
Proficient in IRS filings and tax compliance software
