Job Description

We are seeking an Accounting Policy Advisor for a direct hire/permanent role in Reston, VA. This role will work a hybrid schedule and will be responsibile for:

Researching, interpreting, and applying authoritative accounting guidance to new, significant or non-routine transactions executed by the Corporation including, but not limited to, securitization, investing, funding and financial risk management transactions.

Preparing well-documented technical accounting analyses that are soundly reasoned and demonstrate a clear understanding of covered business activities.

Monitoring developments in generally accepted accounting principles that could impact the Corporation's accounting policies, practices, and disclosures.

Facilitating the implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements while ensuring that the Corporation's accounting policies comply with new authoritative guidance.

Reviewing business requirements for new systems, providing direction on systems development (related to accounting functionality) and supporting testing efforts on an as needed basis.

Reviewing SEC and other external reporting related to assigned areas ensuring accuracy and completeness and manage responses to comments.

Participating in the presentation of positions related to financial transactions or developments (including new standards) from the Financial Accounting Standards Board or the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) to management.

Participating in the development of and delivery of internal accounting and reporting training courses.

Qualifications

6+ Years of experience

CPA

Accounting Degree

What are the nice-to-have skills?

Experience Preparing well-documented technical accounting analyses

Participating in the presentation of positions related to financial transactions or developments

Additional Information
