About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Biology with a specialization in microglial biology to lead their pre-clinical programs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in translating genetics and human biology into in vitro and in vivo systems to understand the role of microglial cells in neurodegenerative diseases. This role involves managing a team of research biologists and project team leaders, setting and maintaining strategic focus across multiple drug discovery programs, and ensuring the timely execution of the project portfolio. The VP will work closely with the Chief Scientific Officer to incorporate new ideas into programs, maintain a strong grasp on emerging areas of immunology and neuroscience, and engage in external collaborations to support discovery and development.Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Immunology or Neuroscience with over 20 years of experience in academia or the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, including at least 10 years in drug discovery. Expertise in neurodegenerative disorders, particularly in the role of glial cells in CNS disease, is essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading drug discovery programs to the pre-IND stage, be highly proficient in all facets of drug discovery, and have the ability to design and execute translatable proof of concept studies. Strong leadership, mentorship, and the ability to work in a cross-functional team and matrix environment are also required.
