Job Summary

In this role, the individual will lead the OIT Enterprise Architecture and Product Management department and the two practices for OIT . This unified approach provides comprehensive services to both OIT and the University, covering the definition, design, strategy, roadmap and delivery of enterprise system requirements. As the subject matter expert for Product Management Capability within OIT , they will promote these capabilities throughout UT Arlington’s various units. They will play a pivotal role in fostering integration and building relationships among team members, stakeholders, customers, executives, and others involved in the product life cycle. Their efforts will be instrumental in fulfilling the organization’s needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Product Management:

Direct UTA’s product management practice to support the University’s mission.

Lead product strategy, planning, and life cycle management efforts.

Application Lifecycle Management: Oversee tools and processes that implement, document, and support the lifecycle of applications managed by OIT .

Oversee the on-boarding and off-boarding of applications in the portfolio.

Consulting Services: Oversee product lifecycle management consulting services to OIT .

Provide consultative services to other teams and departments on university standards and practices associated with application life cycle.

Standards and Best Practices: Establish standards for documentation and management of application configurations, ensuring consistency with industry standards.

Establish standards for measuring and monitoring the effectiveness and rationalization of applications in the portfolio.

Product Roadmaps and Release Plans: Establish product roadmaps and release plans that satisfy requirements and achieve customer outcomes.

Lead UTA’s enterprise architecture practice to align IT systems with the University’s mission.

System Documentation: Manage tools and processes that document enterprise systems and their functional relationships, including application portfolio and CMDB .

Innovation and Roadmap Services: Supervise innovation and roadmap consulting services that meet the University’s requirements and achieve customer outcomes.

Compliance and Reporting: Collaborate with other departments on compliance and reporting requirements related to enterprise applications and information architecture.

Performance Measurement: Set standards for measuring and monitoring application performance, including usage, cost, effectiveness, and value, and conduct periodic reviews to update application roadmaps.

Talent and Operational Management: Oversee Interviewing, hiring, and managing of technical managers and staff.

Establish, measure, and report on team goals and standards.

Manage budgets and allocation of resources.

Plan, oversee, and collaborate on various projects.

Develop technical competencies of staff

Other: Oversee the ITIL Change and Problem business processes for OIT .

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems (or related field) plus four (4) years experience in related work experience, or a combination of eight (8) years of relevant education and experience.

4+ years of experience in a supervisory role

Experience managing projects with multiple resources and stakeholders

Experience working with Leadership at all levels including Senior Leadership at an organizational level

Experienced with data and architecture design and systems thinking

Demonstrated experience with fund-based accounting and budgeting

Demonstrated experience with vendor management and software contract negotiation

Demonstrated mastery team-building skills to inspire individual and team engagement, promote a culture of collaboration, ownership, and accountability, and foster a respectful and proactive work environment

Demonstrated experience in hiring, coaching, training, and leading a high caliber and diverse team of professionals who will provide functional and business expertise to the organization. Includes performance management, compensation planning, mentoring and skill needs assessment

Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education Level

ITIL certified

TOGAF Certified

Relevant Azure, Google, or AWS Cloud certifications

Preferred Experience Level Experience as an Enterprise Architect in a large organization.

Familiarity with the software development lifecycle in enterprise settings.

Understanding of various architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF , Zachman).

Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data privacy regulations

Product Management: Ability to build product roadmaps and manage products for large organizations.

Experienced in implementing product management frameworks.

IT Service Management: Proficiency with ITSM and CMDB systems, especially ServiceNow.

Knowledge of cloud infrastructure vendors including Azure and AWS .

Enterprise Software Platforms: Experience using platforms like ServiceNow, SharePoint, Slate, PeopleSoft.

Skilled in negotiating contracts and evaluating vendors/contractors.
