They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to oversee all aspects of their financial operations within the organization. The Director of Accounting will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing strategic guidance to senior management.

Focus:
Lead all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accurate allocations, accruals, and financial operations for our diverse range of programs.
Verify the accuracy of the general ledger and supporting journals, reconciling account balances to supporting documentation, and preparing journal entries.
Prepare required financial statements and other reports of a financial nature, adhering to GAAP and specific reporting policies.
Enhance and implement financial accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Ensure timely and accurate monthly and year-end financial closes, conducting variance analyses and finance review meetings with program leads and executive staff.
Oversee the preparation and distribution of key financial and operational metrics to inform decision-making.
Provide consultative support to budget initiatives, ensuring financial cost controls, management information analysis, and recommendations.
Ensure compliance with all organizational financial policies and regulatory requirements, including overseeing annual external audits and financial compliance monitoring of sub-recipients and sub-contractors.
Propose ongoing system enhancements, including the main ERP (Great Plains), and manage the implementation of systems related to the Accounting/Finance department.
Supervise a team of 2-3 Analysts, an A/P Manager, and an Accountant, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
Skill Set:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred, MBA a plus.
10+ years experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager, preferably within a direct services organization, not-for-profit, or healthcare system.
Proven track record of supervising an Accounting department and implementing financial systems with a strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and process improvement.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally and diplomatically.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and produce high-quality work with minimal supervision.
Ability to analyze statistical data, prepare comprehensive reports, and exercise good judgment in planning and decision-making.
Commitment to ethical standards, customer service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Microsoft Dynamics – Great Plains.
Willingness to travel to various site and program locations as needed and work extended hours when required.
