About the Role
The Company is seeking a VP, Government Affairs to lead advocacy efforts in the Pennsylvania and Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with state legislators and regulators to advance the company's positions on relevant legislation and regulations. This role involves monitoring and reporting on the progress of proposed policies, advocating for the company's interests on priority issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory developments. The VP will work as part of a global government affairs team, managing a network of consultants, law firms, trade associations, and lobbyists to support the company's public policy agenda.Applicants must have a strong academic background, political acumen, and established relationships with state Department of Insurance officials and state legislative staff. A technical understanding of regulatory and legislative matters across all lines of property and casualty insurance, including workers' compensation, is essential. The role requires a strategic thinker who can work with various business units to address political and regulatory challenges, identify opportunities for policy advancement, and effectively communicate policy messages to internal and external audiences. The VP will also serve as the company's representative to industry trade associations.
