**Position Purpose**

The Director of Inventory Analytics and Data Science will serve as the head of inventory analytics and data science for Petco Enterprise. The individual requires critical thought leadership focused on developing analytical processes, tools and strategy for driving improved performance throughout inventory lifecycle. The role is responsible for growing and managing a team of varied levels of analysts and data scientists by setting a compelling strategic vision for the team. The individual will be responsible for leading advanced analytical modeling, simulation and optimization projects. The incumbent will be laser focused in search of opportunities to build long-lasting relationships with Petcos customers.

**Essential Job Functions:** *The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities* w *ith or without a reasonable accommodation.*

* Oversee the entire lifecycle of inventory from Inventory Flow to Capacity Allocation to Fulfillment Centers.

* Control key inventory health metrics such as in-stocks, safety stocks and vendor fill rates by engaging with Transportation, Logistics, and Warehouse Operations Teams.

* Apply Supply Chain Inventory Management Concepts, such as Safety Stock and Cycle Stock Calculations, and Operations Research Concepts, such as demand optimization and decision analysis, to create demand forecasts and purchase forecasts.

* Ability to guide the use statistical computing languages and version control systems (e.g., Python, R, and Github) to work with large datasets to prepare key inventory management analyses

* Leverage Supply Chain Models to purchase the optimum inventory to stay in-stock on all sales channels (stores, shipping, same day delivery, and pick up)

* Setup internal project management workflows to help develop future inventory management decision-making tools.

* Use critical Supply Chain metrics to prepare analytical models to identify excess inventory and overstock and share accurate inventory health with Finance, Accounting, Merchandizing, and Supply Chain teams and share final recommendations with appropriate teams to initiate promotions, markdowns and clearance.

* Own and develop data visualization reports in BI tools on all aspects of inventory management

**Education/Experience**

* MBA or Masters in Supply Chain, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Math, Economics,

* 8 10 years of work or experience in analytics or data science teams with a supply chain focus.

* Deep understanding of inventory/revenue management and supply chain analytics

* Strong knowledge of guiding teams to build tools and analysis using languages such as R/ Python

* High level of comfort with analytical approaches and quantitative methods to deal with very large datasets.

* Experience applying Operations Research methodologies to make supply chain decisions.

* Experience improving and optimizing supply chain processes by developing mathematical optimization simulations, econometrics models, and decision tree models.

* Experience improving forecasting models and replenishment processes by applying Six Sigma Principles: DMAIC and Decision Tree.

* Experience designing Replenishment Models to calculate cycle stock and safety stock and optimize inventory costs.

* Experience preparing supply chain metrics and scorecards on Business Intelligence platforms to measure inventory health, vendor performance and inventory logistics status

* Experience generating customer demand forecast models by manipulating large sets of historical time-series data using ARIMA (Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average) Models, STL (Seasonal and Trend Decomposition using Loess), and Gradient Boosting.

* Extensive exposure to all aspects of Retail/eCommerce from the technical, strategic, and operational perspective is preferred
