General Description
A Payroll Administrator/ Certified Payroll Clerk is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs any combination of the duties described more fully, below. A Certified Payroll Clerk in the construction arena typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the workflow dictates.
Key Duties
Organization and time management skills a must
Review Timecards for accuracy.
Familiarity with Union Wage Rates & Contracts a Plus.
Assure that employees are paid the appropriate amount per the approved wage tables for each particular job.
Assure that all other total amounts are correct (i.e. project gross, weekly gross, all deductions and Net pay).
Knowledge of electronic filing systems is a must
Maintaining a positive work environment, cooperation with co-workers and a strong work ethic is helpful.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Other administrative duties as needed
Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience . This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience in a payroll clerk role.
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
2+ years administrative work required.
4+ years construction administration experience preferred.
Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be well organized and detail oriented.
Must be able to work with constant interruption.
Must be proficient with MS Office to include; Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. SAP experience preferred.
Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Physical Demands . The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Certified Payroll Clerk to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Periodic physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to periodically stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds personally and the ability to carry up to 15 pounds personally.
Work Environment . The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Certified Payroll Clerk encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
Work is performed predominately indoors, although periodic visits to construction sites or asphalt manufacturing facilities may be required.
Noise level in the typical office work environment is quiet.
