The Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health (JHIPH) is a leading organization at the forefront of Planetary Health, a new, rapidly growing global field and social movement focused on understanding the human health impacts of our disruption and transformation of Earth's natural systems and the solutions necessary to address these challenges. Never before has humanity's footprint on the natural world been so large or so threatening to human health and well-being.

The JHIPH mission is to catalyze scholarship and practice of Planetary Health across the University; bring together a cohesive community of practice; and establish JHU as a global leader in addressing the global health and humanitarian dimensions of the Earth crisis. JHIPH also collaborates with the Planetary Health Aliance (PHA) which is a growing global consortium of over 430 institutions in more than 70 countries, and 3,500+ individual members, advancing Planetary Health understanding by convening experts; creating, gathering, and distributing educational materials; and curating, synthesizing, and disseminating evidence to inform and activate the Planetary Health community and broader society.

JHIPH seeks a detail-oriented and motivated **_Academic Program Manager_** to support the growing JHIPH team in building a transdisciplinary community dedicated to advancing the field of Planetary Health. The Academic Program Manager will work in close collaboration with Education Faculty co-leads, the JHIPH Administrative Manager, and other staff in both JHIPH and PHA to coordinate the University’s strategy on developing and implementing Planetary Health curricula. The Academic Program Manager will report to the JHIPH Sr. Administrative Manager. In addition, because the JHIPH team will have an active portfolio of research projects, there will be substantial opportunities to participate in research efforts, if desired.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**

+ Lead the development and implementation of JHIPH’s Education strategy with input from the school deans, JHIPH directors, faculty, selected advisors, and PHA team.

+ Develop and maintain high-level partnerships with faculty across all JHU schools, external institutions and associations, and education consortia to leverage resources for large-scale curricular change, e.g., incorporating Planetary Health learning opportunities into medical education.

+ Map current efforts across JHU in Planetary Health education and establish successful pathways for curricular change.

+ May be responsible for recruitment and retention of faculty and administrative staff.

+ Develop a project plan for curricular reform in Planetary Health as it relates to all relevant JHU degree and certificate programs.

+ Collaborate with faculty leads, subject matter experts, faculty, and staff to create guidelines to design, develop, and/or manage course/curriculum development projects.

+ Provide expertise on teaching resources and instructional strategies related to course and program design.

+ Develop and implement processes, procedures, and systems. May include course scheduling system, student and faculty database, faculty contracts, payroll processing.

+ Create guidelines for development of modules, workshops and programs to support synchronous and asynchronous professional development and learning activities.

+ Contribute to education updates for JHIPH-related reporting and presentations.

+ Develop content to assist in marketing JHIPH's educational programming while coordinating with communications team on strategy and workflow.

+ May supervisor administrative staff, volunteer education fellows, education interns, and associated programs‘personnel as needed.

+ Systematically review current efforts in Planetary Health education.

+ Travel to meetings or conferences (approximately 5%) in support of JHIPH’s educational work.

+ Represent program leadership in academic program matters.

+ Represent the program in administrative matters. May include issues pertaining to space, facilities, finance, technology, student information system, classroom support.

+ Develop and present program reports (budget and non-budget).

+ Oversee and monitor program expenditures. Contributes to program budget development and projections.

+ The position is based in Baltimore and will require attendance at events at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington DC.

+ Knowledge and/or demonstrated experience in global environmental change and/or public health as it relates to Planetary Health preferred.

+ Knowledge of and commitment to concepts and issues tied to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

**Minimum Qualifications**

+ Master's or Ph.D. in education or specific field related to program.

+ Five years experience in all aspects of academic program administration.

+ Additional experience may substitute for education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Supervisory experience preferred.

+ Prior experience developing curricula.

+ Background in Environmental Studies.

+ Project management experience.

+ Prior experience in higher education.

+ Awareness of and aptitude to appropriately and effectively understand, respect, and adapt to cultural and identity-based differences within group environments.

+ Knowledge of and commitment to concepts and issues tied to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
