Position Overview
Our client is looking for a dynamic Legal Project Manager to join their team. The role involves supporting the firm's legal project management (LPM) function by developing and implementing LPM policies, training lawyers and staff on best practices, and managing LPM software and tools. The Legal Project Manager collaborates closely with partners and clients to ensure legal projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
LPM Team Collaboration: Provide top-tier LPM support within an AMLaw 50 firm.
Strategy Development: Assist in creating and executing the firm's LPM strategy.
Training & Coaching: Train and coach lawyers and staff on LPM best practices.
Software Management: Oversee the implementation and management of LPM software and tools.
Process Oversight: Manage LPM processes for assigned practice groups.
Project Management: Work with partners and clients to develop and manage project budgets and timelines.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in processes.
Reporting: Establish best practices for tracking and reporting.
Flexibility: Work beyond scheduled hours as needed to achieve goals and deadlines.
Required Skills and Proficiencies
Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building abilities to interact effectively with attorneys and staff at all levels.
Project Management Expertise: Proven experience in legal project management.
Communication Skills: Exceptional oral communication skills and a proactive approach.
Financial Analysis: Strong skills in financial analysis, including preparing concise reports for firm management.
Pricing Knowledge: Experience with legal services pricing, including alternative fee arrangements.
Mathematical Ability: Proficiency in applying mathematical and basic statistical concepts to large data sets.
Organizational Skills: Superior organizational abilities to manage large volumes of data, prioritize workload, coordinate multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint, with strong written communication abilities.
Software Skills: Ability to learn and use additional programs, including LPM, pricing, budgeting, and financial management software. Knowledge of legal services financial and billing systems is preferred.
Confidentiality: Ability to protect and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree (required).
Experience: 5+ years of related experience, preferably in an Am Law 50 firm.
