About the Role Spark is hiring a Head of Sales to work closely with the CEO to lead Spark on our nationwide expansion. You will set the tone for leading and scaling a high-performing, motivated, and service-oriented sales team as we expand across the country, providing guidance and coaching for delivering a world class experience to all new and prospective partners. As a member of our executive leadership team, you will define thoughtful but aggressive sales goals, own our overall sales strategy and budget, and collaborate with leaders across our organization to identify gaps and opportunities.
Our long-term vision is to help every Medicare beneficiary take control of their health, and we can only achieve this by being the best possible partner for independent agents and agencies. You will play a key role in helping us scale and evangelize the agent and member love from our initial cohort into one of the largest and highest-performing agencies nation-wide.
What you’ll do: Lead all our sales strategy and execution and own the ambitious sales targets expected from a high-growth startup
Act as a key member of the Spark leadership team and report directly to the CEO, providing high level strategic thinking into team and budget planning, quarterly OKRs, structuring compensation plans and setting and managing expectations to the board
Coach and build trust with a growing sales team, and provide developmental feedback for continuous improvement
Create and maintain a sales culture of excellence, service, and continuous improvement
Supervise & conduct training on salesmanship, process, technology, and more
Get into the weeds where needed: owning decks, getting on and listening to calls, becoming player/coach where needed and going to depths to understand the client, etc
Demonstrate Spark’s core values and leadership traits internally and as an external champion
What you’ll have: Experience: at least 6 years experience managing and scaling sales teams in a high-growth environment
Team building: experience in recruiting, developing and retaining a high performing sales organization
Creativity and tenacity: you’ll find new and innovative ways to approach agencies and surprise & delight them through the relationship-building process
Results orientation: track record of exceeding quota and developing & retaining a high-performing sales organization
Process orientation: you’ll diligently monitor team performance and reporting, with an eye toward continuous improvement
