Agriculture Experience Manager

Principal Function: The Agriculture Experience Manager is responsible for managing the daily agriculture experience areas, developing engaging agricultural programming and training staff and volunteers to provide the highest quality guest experience in conjunction with Conner Prairie's heritage breed livestock program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Oversees the creation, development, and implementation of agriculture-related public programming, events and classes.* Collaborates cross-departmentally to enhance programming site-wide.* Supervises, trains and schedules part-time/seasonal Agriculture Interpreters.* Partners with Volunteer Manager to train and schedule volunteers both youth and adult.* Oversees daily operations of Animal Encounters, Prairietown Ag and other value-added agriculture programming to ensure high quality guest experiences.* Conducts research on modern and historical agriculture topics to maintain the quality and accuracy of Conner Prairie's agriculture experiences and programs.* Oversees and/or assists with other agriculture initiatives as needed (i.e. digital experiences, Prairie Provisions, etc.)* Assists Director of Agriculture Initiatives with agriculture-related youth leadership initiatives.* Operates safely Ag-related machinery including, but not limited to, tractors, ATVs, skid loaders, trucks and trailers, etc.* Promotes Conner Prairie's agriculture program at conferences, media events, etc.* Participates in departmental strategic planning to develop new initiatives.* Assists with light routine animal care and maintenance as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Part-time/Part-Time Flex Ag Interpreters.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Management, Animal Science, Animal Biology or Animal Behavior or similar relevant experience. Experience working with rare breeds desired. College students focusing education in the Animal Sciences are encouraged to apply.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to working in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and outdoor weather conditions. The employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Conner Prairie is generally open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. This position will be required to work some weekends and nights beyond these hours when required to take care of the livestock or for special programming.
