About the Role :

The Development Team at the Lawyers’ Committee seeks a dedicated and highly motivated Strategic Partnerships Officer to lead the solicitation and stewardship of a broad range of corporate entities across the country. We are honored to partner with philanthropic leaders across the country to build the future we all deserve.

This position will have a diverse set of responsibilities focused on creating and deepening relationships with corporations through in-person and online meetings, mailings, and special engagement opportunities. The Strategic Partnership Officer will help the organization’s corporate partners fulfill their philanthropic goals and build opportunities for corporations and their employees to engage with the organization. The Strategic Partnership Officer will represent the organization at external stakeholder events and build relationships with various corporate leaders.

The Strategic Partnerships Officer will work closely with the Vice President of Development, Vice President of Strategy and Programs, President/Executive Director, and other team members. The Strategic Partnerships Manager will work under the supervision of the Institutional Partnerships Manager.

What You’ll be Doing:

Responsibilities of the Strategic Partnerships Officer include but are not limited to: Build and implement individualized strategies from stewardship to solicitation to cultivation for corporate donors and prospects.

Create and implement special cultivation opportunities such as small events, special mailings, and/or communications for select corporate donors/prospects.

Build and complete a cultivation calendar to include content directed at corporate donor audiences.

Prepare personalized proposals and reports for corporate donors and prospects.

Develop and lead all aspects of processes to triage, select, support, and manage strategic partnership opportunities.

Conduct prospect research to expand the organization’s strategic partnerships.

Represent Lawyers’ Committee at events.

Collaborate with program staff to identify and form engagement opportunities for corporations.

Manage information flow between corporate prospects/donors, internal program staff and communications colleagues.

Collaborate with communications colleagues to optimize cause marketing relationships for brand and audience building.

Stay abreast of current corporate social responsibility, marketing trends and internal issues to determine appropriate applications.

Build and manage expense and revenue forecasts for strategic partnerships program.

Liaise with Deputy Chief Counsel on approval processes for charitable sales promotions, corporate sponsorship contracts and agreements.

Support production of annual Higginbotham Gala.

Minimum Requirements and Competencies: Minimum three years of progressive experience in development or advocacy, encouraging strategic partnerships.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent educational experience

Strong belief in the Lawyers’ Committee’s work and mission.

Strong interpersonal skills such as persuasiveness and perseverance in attaining goals.

The ability to communicate effectively on the phone, virtually and in-person with corporations, donors, board members, volunteers, staff, and the public.

Experience with nonprofit fundraising, with progressive responsibility and a proven track record of soliciting, closing, and managing gifts from corporations.

Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.

Demonstrated ability to simplify complex themes and activities into a short and compelling format.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Ability to develop long-term plans, set objectives, and track progress towards achieving objectives.

Ability to work independently and take initiative. Flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks as the responsibilities of the position evolve.

Experience with donor database management and systems with Raisers Edge preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office systems.

Availability to travel in U.S. occasionally is required.
