We are looking for an experienced Accountant or Senior Accountant to support our finance and accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our accounting processes. The accountant manages financial transactions, prepares financial reports, and provides strategic financial guidance to the management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting: Manage all aspects of the accounting cycle, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations. Assist with month-end close procedures, including journal entries and reconciliations. Monitor credit card expenses and implement policies to ensure proper coding. Assist in completing the monthly financial package for senior management.

Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Prepare government reporting and provide detailed monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports to parent company, including past dues, unapproved change orders, revenue forecasting, and gross margin change explanations. Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure financial integrity. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.

Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making and strategic planning. Analyze financial data and trends, identifying potential risks and opportunities. Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure financial integrity. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.

Budgeting & Forecasting: Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes to support business planning and performance management. Manage and contribute to the development of the annual capital expenditure (capex) budget. Collaborate on the development and implementation of new accounting processes and systems. Support the Finance Manager with other financial tasks as needed.

Tax Preparation: Complete yearly tax organizer and ensure proper licensing and tax filings are completed for expansion into new geographic areas. Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals during audits and tax filings.

Collaboration & Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Mentor and train accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Demonstrate initiative as a self-starter while collaborating effectively with the team.

Strong ability to complete due diligence and risk assessment

Impeccable integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas:

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.

Proficiency in accounting software, JDE or similar, and Microsoft Excel.

Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the construction industry

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA certification a plus.

Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.

Experience in the construction or contracting industry preferred but not required.

Working Conditions :

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Full-time employees are eligible to choose from a variety of healthcare coverage options, which become effective the first of the month after hire. In addition, employees are offered a substantial amount of PTO and are immediately eligible to make contributions to a generously matched and fully vested 401k.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000

*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*
