About The Role We are looking for a senior engineer with expertise in automotive camera sensors. This role will focus on leading our initiatives related to replicating camera sensors in our simulated environments. At Applied, we encourage all engineers to take ownership over technical and product decisions, interact closely with users to collect feedback, and contribute to a thoughtful, dynamic team culture. At Applied, you will: Design and implement core components of our camera sensors in our proprietary simulation engine

Work closely with customers and sensor vendors to implement and validate specific camera sensors and lens models

Work with top autonomy companies to understand and solve unique challenges in simulation-based development and scalable testing of autonomy stacks

We're looking for someone who has: Experience with modeling camera systems in simulation

Knowledge of optics and lighting and its relation to simulated cameras

Familiarity with rendering engines and concepts such as the BRDF and physical material modeling

Experience implementing models in C++

Nice to have: Experience with OpenCV and other industry computer vision approaches

Specific knowledge of cameras used in automotive autonomy systems

Experience working with camera hardware

Detailed knowledge of inner design cameras

Hands-on experience with characterization of models camera sensors and lens projections

Competent skills & experience in signal processing, linear algebra, antenna theory, optics, circuits, photonics, and/or electro-optics

The salary range for this position is $65,000 USD to $400,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company's compensation practices.
