Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our Humanoid is designed for corporate tasks targeting labor shortages and jobs that are undesirable or unsafe. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration.
We are looking for a Camera System Engineer to design Figure next generation sensors and image processing pipeline.
Responsibilities:
Define the Camera System architecture, requirements, verification and validation plans
Select or design optics, protective glass and coating, and closely collaborate with the mechanical team to define camera locations
Lead components selection for the camera system including image sensors, ISP and vision processors
Conduct trades studies to support requirements definitions and drive components selection
Perform data collections with various sensor configurations, sensors and optics
Create models of cameras and image processing pipelines
Define performance metrics and perform quantitative analysis of the camera system performance
Conduct latency estimations and measurements and propose optimizations to reduce latency
Oversee relationships with camera and SoC vendors
Contribute to the processing module hardware design or the development of algorithms for the signal processing pipeline
Requirements:
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
At least 5 years of experience designing and characterizing complex camera systems
Deep understanding of image and Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors characteristics
Fundamental understanding of camera optics
Solid knowledge of image signal processing algorithms
Experience modeling vision processing pipelines using Matlab or Python
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Bonus Qualifications:
Proficiency in C++ or C
Solid EE fundamentals with hands-on experience designing, building, and testing PCBAs
Experience using 3D CAD software to design parts
