Job Description:
The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for supporting general implementation of HR business processes, functions and procedures. The HR Assistant provides direct daily administration of HR functions and actively works to support other HR staff to efficiently and accurately accomplish the necessary tasks and goals of the department. This position serves as the first point of contact and receptionist for employees and others on general HR topics to include employment, pay, and benefits. The HR Assistant will possess an overall knowledge of HR Department processes and be able to provide information and resources to the campus community. Under the direction of the AVP for HR, this position also coordinates communications and purchasing for the department.
As a member of the HR team, this position is essential to employee and community service and experience. The incumbent must feel comfortable working in an often fast-paced organizational framework with shifting and evolving responsibilities. This position collaborates with other HR staff, and a variety of other College offices to meet the department goals, and further the mission of the department and the College. This position participates as a committed member and leader of the Human Resources team in college and division committee work, projects, meetings, events, and overall community development.
Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Customer service skills to include responsiveness, providing a friendly approach, and problem-solving.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with technology (Google suite, Microsoft Office Suite or related software, HRIS, payroll systems, and similar employee management software).
At least one year of experience in human resources or other business office environment.
High school diploma/GED
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of human resources best practices related to record retention, benefits, payroll, recruitment and other HR topics.
Prior experience working as an administrative assistant or receptionist.
Proficient with or experience with Workday.
