We are seeking a licensed mechanical engineer who is also well versed in plumbing engineering and will be primarily responsible for the review and approval of design and engineering for residential and non-residential mechanical and plumbing systems and components. As a senior member of the engineering team, you work on planning projects, managing document review, and determining approval of the work of junior engineers or designers before production or implementation. A PE mechanical engineer must approve the creation of construction documents, design reports, technical documents. As a national engineering and design firm we require multi-state PE credentials. However, the primary focus will be the middle and eastern United State.
Essential responsibilities/skills
Mechanical Engineering degree from ABET accredited university, and 7+ years design experience with proven competency with designing for residential and commercial buildings.
PE credentials in 7+ states, and ability/drive to gain credential in all operational regions
Required PE state: FL, GA, ID, NC, SC, TN, TX.
Additional operational states: (AR, AZ, CA, CO, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NM, OH, OK, OR, UT, WI)
Detailed understanding of national codes and applicable state mechanical and plumbing codes. Ability review, report and retain code specific knowledge for state/jurisdiction level construction document submittals.
Review, comment, and sign and seal designs prepared by the mechanical engineering team
Assist in setting the SOP for the department
Resolve field issues at the highest level
Requirements: Needed soft skills
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Self-starter and perform assignments with minimal supervision.
A valid driver’s license without travel time restrictions.
Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and be resourceful
Exhibits a strong executive presence and has high level of interpersonal and presentation skills
Team player with positive and energetic attitude
Be willing to learn and adapt to inevitable company policy and procedural changes
High level of quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills
“Nice to have” skills
Proficient in AUTOCAD
Prior experience report writing is preferred but not required
Experience in construction defects and deficiencies
Proficient in MS office
Work Schedule:
Generally Monday – Friday day shift, however additional hours, including weekend hours, may be required in accordance with changing business needs.
