Mechanical Superintendent (HVAC/Plumbing)
ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Mechanical Superintendent for the Installation Support Services for Geographically Separated Locations (ISS2) contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site at Wake Island, 1 month off island. Wake Island is in the Pacific Ocean, and is 2,100 miles away from Honolulu, Hawaii. The company provides housing while working on-site. The cafeteria furnishes all meals. Transportation to Wake Island, from Honolulu, is provided by government sponsored aircraft.
The Mechanical Superintendent serves in a leadership capacity over the Plumbing and HVAC department, and is responsible for the overall operations, including safety, productivity, work schedules, work quality, and coordination with other superintendents and project leads. The position supervises a staff of 6 direct reports and is accountable to the Site Operations Manager. The Superintendent position will manage assigned projects encompassing Plumbing/Utilities, HVAC.
Roles and Responsibilities
Plan and direct the work activities for Plumbers, HVAC technicians.
Supervise Plumbers, HVAC Technicians in the performance of their duties
Enforce safety standards and conduct on-the-job-training
Must make rapid, appropriate decisions to solve problems of varying complexity while keeping safety a priority
Ability to recognize symptoms of poor equipment maintenance (e.g. corrosion, fouling/scaling) and direct and facilitate corrective actions and provide critical path maintenance planning and support.
Mechanical knowledge, experience, and ability to lead and direct the diagnosis and repair of plumbing systems, HVAC ducting and equipment; and the calibration and maintenance of inline instrumentation.
Competence with MS Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Word.
Overall computer literacy and the ability to self-teach the use of new programs and applications.
Ability to write and speak clearly and effectively.
Possess fundamental electromechanical operation and troubleshooting skills
Possess fundamental understanding of HVAC split system and package unit systems operations and maintenance.
Possess fundamental understanding of plumbing and piping systems
Possess fundamental understanding of heating, ducting, and thermostat control systems and associated operation and troubleshooting principles.
Experience with Facilities Maintenance and understanding of associated principles.
Organize Work/Crew Schedule and Implement Safety Procedures
Maintain and submit daily and weekly reporting records.
Other duties as needed and assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications and Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
PMP or equivalent is preferred.
Skills, Abilities And Years of Experience
Eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in plumbing and/or HVAC operations and maintenance and/or Mechanical Engineering.
Four years of experience in a supervisory capacity
Having experience working in or with a labor union is a preference.
Fluently read, write, speak, and understand English
Reporting Skills, Administrative Writing Skills, Microsoft Office Skills, Managing Processes, Organization, Analyzing Information, Professionalism, Problem Solving, Inventory Control, Verbal Communication.
A valid driver’s license.
All persons employed for this contract must be U.S. citizens and qualified to obtain and/or maintain a personnel security clearance with the U.S. Government. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicants who receive an employment offer letter must complete the Standard Form 86 and the S will grant them an interim Secret clearance. Government before the deployment process can begin.
