Job Description

The Opportunity

As a critical member of a specialized team, the Investment Cash & Securities Consultant will work with the Corporate Units, Lines of Business (LOBs), CFO, CIO Investment Management Group, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Investment Managers, and subsidiaries to provide oversight, analysis, and complex processing of various cash and investment transactions related to MassMutual, its subsidiaries, and its portfolio.

The candidate will apply finance, investment and accounting knowledge and other technical skills to provide oversight while addressing both recurring and critical time-sensitive issues and communications needs. You will also work with members of the Program Management Office for Investments (PMOfI) to assist in formulating and defining business and/ or systems scope, requirements, and objectives as it relates to Cash & Securities Administration Operations. The individual will be the subject matter expert (SME) by applying finance, investment accounting knowledge and other technical skills to provide oversight related to the current and future state needs. A successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, accurately and with limited supervision and must be able to represent Investment Management and the company in communications with internal and external constituents with discretion, tact and decorum.

Responsible for creating, documenting and implementing complex operating processes. May lead enterprise-wide initiatives as it relates to investment cash & securities.

Perform detailed analysis and resolutions for complex variances related to investments

Drives continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility

Makes worthwhile improvements to existing procedures and programs

Mentors and guides less experienced staff

The Minimum Qualifications

5+ years working in the financial services sector in similar investment operations capacity; prefer experience in back office securities operations (reconciliation of cash to receivables/payables)

5+ years of with Investment Operations, Banking and Accounting

3+ years of Ability to work with investment data consumers to analyze, understand issues and assist in issue resolution

College degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or other related major

Ideal Qualifications

Advanced degree

Individual typically has at least 8+ yrs of related experience

Project Lead or Project Management

Strong inter-personal skills to facilitate building positive working relationships

Risk and controls awareness

Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Strong attention to detail

Excellent communication skills with ability to address and resolve conflicts diplomatically

Recognition of patterns and trends in data operations and identify opportunities for improving processes and systems

Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products (primarily Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Lead work group in daily execution of responsibilities and projects

Governance of service level agreements with regard to various reconciliations

Resolve highly complex variances in cash & investment activity including fixed income, equities, derivatives and collateral

Report and analyze cash and investment activity for various audiences including senior leaders in CIO, the LOBs and Corporate

Implement operational aspects of new mandates

Liaison with back office and auditors

Manage highly complex cash management-position cash daily, forecasting, investing and settlements Liquidity management

Manage cash forecasting and analysis (foreign and domestic) as it relates to investments

Highly complex financial, regulatory & management reporting (internal & external)

Credit Administration and Analytics- manage investments of excess funds or borrowing needs

Participate in miscellaneous project work to support Investment Management Operations and Corporate goals

Manage client relations (internal & external)
