The Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) is seeking an experienced sales director to focus on two primary objectives; To drive new business development for the television advertising sales team and to work closely with the Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox to integrate television advertising into team corporate partnerships. This position will carry a list and will play a central role in sales strategy and team relations within the advertising sales departments. This position will sell commercial advertising for both linear and digital television for Chicago Sports Network. In addition, sales efforts will include additional content products related to Chicago Sports Network, including but not limited to sales elements tied to experiential marketing and commercial advertising sales tied to additional designated market areas within the network's territory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, present and close advertising sales packages for both renewal and new business
Manage sales integration with the corporate partnership departments with our three teams (Blackhawks, Bulls, White Sox), all with the objective of meeting and exceeding budget
Work with the General Sales Manager (GSM) to develop a sales strategy, identify key new business categories and clients and a go-to-market plan for achieving sales objectives
Identify and develop revenue and relationships within the advertising community
Work with the station's traffic department and the GSM to manage inventory, pricing, rate structure for all team integrated sponsorships
Work with the Local/National Sales Directors and the GSM to foster collaboration with the sales departments from the Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox
Execute plans, strategies and other assigned duties as set forth by station management
Foster a culture within the advertising sales department of creativity, teamwork, productivity, empowerment and adherence to the network's core values
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
10+ years' experience in television advertising sales in a major market or at a regional sports station
At least four years of management experience preferred
Relationships with the three teams (Blackhawks, Bulls, White Sox) and within the Chicago ad community preferred
Proven track record of generating new business, negotiating with media agencies and clients and achieving sales objectives
Skilled communicator with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously
Nights and weekend client entertainment and hospitality required
Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Experience with Wide Orbit traffic systems preferred
The Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) will launch in October across multiple platforms.
The network will air more than 300 live games annually and include pre-and post-game
coverage while showing multisport programming 24 hours a day. CHSN will broadcast
from studios located in both Chicago's United Center and Guaranteed Rate Field. The
Network will begin airing Blackhawk and Bulls games in October and White Sox games
beginning in 2025.
