The Manager, Partnerships position is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and organized individual to be a part of UWBA’s Community Impact Team. The Community Impact Team strives to ensure our initiatives and programs support basic needs and promote successful pathways to economic prosperity for individuals and families in our eight Bay Area counties. The team manages the delivery of multiple programs, including SparkPoint, and provides technical assistance and grant funding to community partners for educational enrichment, economic prosperity, and family stability programming. This individual will manage partnerships with our education, economic prosperity, and family stability organizations, with a focus on post-secondary institutions. This includes developing new partnerships in the region. Through working with post-secondary institutions, the Manager will build out programming to ensure that children and families have pathways to economic prosperity. The Manager will build on his/her existing expertise around partnerships, networks, and programs to engage new partners, present our programming to new and existing partners, as well as broker, convene, fund, and provide technical assistance to partners. The position will also support data/evaluation efforts for our programs and develop regional learning events to connect our community college and education partners and strengthen the network across the Bay Area. This individual will report to the Director, SparkPoint , and work closely with additional members of the Community Impact Team to deliver effectively on goals.
This is a full-time, 37.5 hour s per week exempt union position.
What you'll do:
Post-secondary partnerships:
(1) Facilitate and support connections between Bay Area post-secondary institutions and existing and potential SparkPoint partners
(5) Engage with community colleges and post-secondary institutions to recruit and support target populations to participate in and complete short-term training or re-training that leads to living wage jobs
Broker relationships with other training providers to ensure that adults with below-basic skills can access contextualized training to build the necessary language and math skills to perform in a specific job
(6) Lead discussions with nonprofit organizations to identify the strategies and partners needed to provide the wraparound services at community colleges that enable individuals to succeed and stay on course, including financial coaching, career coaching, housing assistance , food programs, benefits enrollment, educational counseling, and more
(2) Facilitate discussions with SparkPoint Centers to amplify or revolutionize their workforce services in partnerships with local colleges
(15) Identify and/or support new service delivery locations in alignment with our programming goals
Support the SparkPoint grantee network:
(4) Oversee grants to Community Colleges, Community College Districts, SparkPoint Centers with programming at Community Colleges, or other organizations with programming at higher education institutions
(3) Oversee or support the maintenance and development of a regional learning network
( 14 ) Provide and facilitate the provision of technical assistance to grantee partners
Community Coordination and Collaboration
Work with other community brokers and collaboratives in this space to ensure alignment, support, and maximally leveraged resources
(13) Build and maintain coalitions and partnerships necessary for the success of strategies by engaging in outreach, education, information gathering and connections with community, business, and labor leaders, and elected and appointed officials
(12) Represent United Way at external coalitions, conferences, and convenings
Other projects and activities:
(7) Manage and/or support special events ( e.g. client or partner recognition events or service location launch events)
(16) Conduct and share research on best/current practices and services on addressing community needs
(10) Attend conferences and workshops, as needed, and share learning with other team members
(8) Assist program department leadership and the Development team in researching and applying for funding opportunities, writing funder and program reports and updates for internal and external uses
(9) Support cross-program and cross-departmental projects, as necessary and assigned
( 11) Other tasks and duties as assigned
Who you are:
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, knowledge and skills:
(A) 5-7 years of related volunteer or professional experience, direct service and/or leadership in the community, work with community colleges or post-secondary institutions, public/private sector leaders/decision makers, experience in fundraising, marketing, or community programs
(B) Commitment to deepening expertise around racial equity, diversity, inclusion, and self-awareness
Can effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably, decide and act without having the total picture, and handle risk and uncertainty.
(C) Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills (including public speaking)
Demonstrated history of strong interpersonal skills. Highly nuanced communicator able to work effectively and diplomatically with nonprofit, community, community colleges leaders, as well as corporate executives in all settings
(D) Ability to develop and maintain positive work relationships with staff, volunteers and persons contacted in the course of work. Team player, flexible, respectful, welcomes feedback and able to work with humor and grace under pressure
(E) Excellent project management and organizational skills. Rapid, thorough, and accurate implementation of specific projects and tasks required .
(F) Meets deadlines and completes tasks with a high degree of accuracy and dependability.
(G) Detail oriented, with excellent proofreading skills
(H) Self- motivated, goal oriented, and organized – ability to get the job done. Able to work in unstructured environment and adapt easily to change
General ability and desire to problem solve and look for better, faster, innovative ways to complete tasks. Must be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently and have to ability to manage conflicting and changing priorities.
(I) Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); database and CRM software (Salesforce Preferred); use of online resources and applications. Comfortable and interested in learning becoming proficient in new software systems; patience in teaching others. Some proficiency with Salesforce desired but not mandatory (must be willing to become proficient)
(J) Ability to effectively work remotely with supervisor, team and other departments
Access to a car, valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment. Flexibility and mobility to travel to off-site locations within or outside San Francisco as needed
(K) Spanish Proficiency (read/write/speak fluently) preferred bu t not required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 / year Exempt
