Data Integrity Specialist - 100% Remote (Must Live in Greater Houston)_

At Houston Methodist, the Data Integrity Specialist position is responsible for supporting the services related to the integrity of the integrated electronic health record (EHR). The position performs tasks to maintain the accuracy of the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI). The position also monitors chart correction requests timely and implements actions to perform corrections as necessary to ensure accuracy of the integrated EHR.

**PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

+ Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic team focused work unit that actively helps one another to achieve optimal departmental and organizational results.

+ Communicates effectively with customers to enlist their assistance in ensuring medical records are complete and accurate.

**SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

+ Performs the primary function of merging, chart correction, and identity overlays based on work volume and workflow needs.

+ Assists with testing for system upgrades, system builds, and system fixes.

**QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

+ Continuously evaluates the integrity of data in the health record in order to efficiently complete requests, identify and correct inconsistencies.

+ Determines the correct action to be taken to ensure the integrity of the data.

+ Adheres to department standards for productivity, timeliness, and quality.

+ Completes the transaction in all relevant hospital systems.

+ Reviews 100% of updates to assure its completeness, consistency, and compliance with hospital policy, procedures, and regulations.

**FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

+ Organizes time effectively, minimizing incidental overtime, and sets priorities. Utilizes time between heavy workloads efficiently and helps other team members.

**GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

**EDUCATION**

+ Associate's degree in health information management or related field required or additional two years of experience (in addition to the minimum experience requirements listed below) required in lieu of degree

+ Completion of some college courses focused in health information management/ technology preferred

**WORK EXPERIENCE**

+ Two years of experience performing tasks associated with EMPI, chart correction, and/or general health information management or related area

+ Prior EHR systems experience preferred

**LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED**

+ N/A

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**

+ Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations

+ Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security

+ Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co- workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles

+ Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression

+ Must be able to identify common documents found within hospital and clinic medical record

+ Ability to perform EHR data comparisons

+ Ability to pay attention to detail

+ Proficient PC knowledge (including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel)

+ Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
